Re: NEW R 7000 Firmware R7000-V1.0.3.60_1.1.27

Unfortunately, I solved the issue by getting rid of the R7000.

It's disappointing to hear that it's still happening.

Re: NEW R 7000 Firmware R7000-V1.0.3.60_1.1.27

I have a similar issue as riesecanada. Newly connected devices to the bridge are unable to access the internet if the router and bridge have been powered up for more than a few days. Devices that were already connected continue to work fine however.

Does anybody know of dd-wrt fixes this issue?

The wired/wireless disconnect problem that I have been dealing with Netgear support for more than three months is still not resolved with this latest firmware release.

"I updated the R7000 router and the R7000 bridge with the latest firmware release V1.0.3.60_1.1.27.

As after each update, I reset the devices back to factory defaults and reconfigured them manually.

4 days online time later, the problem of this case is again reproducible.

Newly connected wired devices on the bridge can communicate with other wired devices on the bridge, but not with devices over the wireless connection to the router."

I have similar issues. In past firmware versions the LAN <-> WiFi traffic would stop working after a certain time (random time periods) and rebooting the router was the only solution. In this latest firmware I have not experienced this yet, but the problem with WiFi devices showing connected to WiFi, but unable to do anything on the network or Internet has occurred and I had to power cycle the router.

In other words, the router still has serious WiFi and network traffic issues. The good thing for me is that the issues are happening less frequently than before, but still a serious problem.

From what I know, DD-WRT never had this issue so if you're willing to use it, it will work.

I still have issues when trying to access my Brother HL-2280DW printer from any wired devices after like a week or so, but wireless devices see the printer, so this issue probably isn't fixed, or would a factory reset fix this issue?

Doubtful that a factory reset would fix it.

Re: NEW R 7000 Firmware R7000-V1.0.3.60_1.1.27

It's been a few days since I posted about my experience with this firmware and I'm sad to report that further factory resets and flashes have seen no improvement in stability. Wireless devices drop off all the time with a reboot being the only fix. There seems to be a longer delay in these errors starting after a reboot but, overall, it's random. If this is a memory leak it's gone from a gush to a drip! Let's hope Netgear can plug it.

I can get nothing to connect on 5GHz.

I just sent a wireless extender back cause it couldn't connect - I didn't realise it was everything else in my network too!!!!

Very unhappy wasted a lot of time and frustration on this.

The V1.0.3.61_20140605_QA is still working good for me. I was having a lot of problems losing internet access. I don't use IPv6 though.

Is the QA code linked in this thread? Sorry to ask but I'm using my phone to browse posts.

Re: NEW R 7000 Firmware R7000-V1.0.3.60_1.1.27

This firmware has pretty much destroyed my rock solid network. Digital media streamers either won't connect or suffer lag.

Wireless extenders fail all the time.

I've even bought two more extenders because I thought it was them that failed.

Has anybody got any updates or ways around this?

Cheers in advance.

You're still having problems with the R7000 so you're going to go out and buy first run new units?

Sorry but that doesn't seem to make much sense. 😄

I'm actually not having that many problems with it. Just very periodic slowdowns.

Re: NEW R 7000 Firmware R7000-V1.0.3.60_1.1.27

I have read with great interest most of the posts with people having trouble with the R7000! And till now I have not had any problems but a couple of weeks ago I got a new Windows 8.1 ASUS Laptop with most of the bells and whistles. Then I upgraded my router to the .27 Firmware and then the trouble started and it started as soon as I did so and it only happened with the Windows Laptop connected by WIFI and not the rest of the devices which are Apple (Mac and IOS) which connect to the network. I would get the Limited connectivity and no Internet Access available via WiFi. I would have to restart the computer to connect. I did some system check on WiFi and it would fail the Authentication Test. And I tried most everything and I finally downgraded the Firmware back to the previous version and everything is ok now but only time will tell. The .27 version of firmware to me is just to buggy.

Re: NEW R 7000 Firmware R7000-V1.0.3.60_1.1.27

I have been monitoring my internet connection with internet connectivity monitor. I have tested this with three different routers (dir-615, wndr3400, and r7000). Only the r7000 has had internet disconnections on the stock firmware 1.0.3.60 and QA chk. It no longer completely reboots. This may sound ridiculous, but somehow, it causes the modem it self to lose upstream and online connectivity lights. Briefly losing the all internet (LAN, WAN) attached to r7000. The internet light eventually goes out on the r7000, turns orange then comes back on as the modem lights come back on. Has only happened with the r7000, and always happens with r7000 stock, does not happen with the other routers. Does not happen with dd-wrt 24345M on r7000. Am I crazy, could the r7000 cause this?

Just installed, first test was to stream hi-def audio from my server wirelessly and on another computer d/l a 2 gb file from the same server (all wirelessly). This always resulted in stuttering of my audio stream with every firmware to date. This firmware FIXES this!

Netgear thank you.......

CC

It's true, my Vonage VoIP was stuttering and breakup in the line was common before this update. I had thought it was because of Vonage or my internet service provider. I also thought it was the other end of the line or simply wireless 2.4ghz interference. But since this update the phone line has been clear and crisp.

Thank you Netgear for the update.

Re: NEW R 7000 Firmware R7000-V1.0.3.60_1.1.27

I know I have read posts (including Kong who creates the dd-wrt firmware) claiming that the 3rd party firmware has just as strong of signal strength as the original firmware. But from my experience, every single time I have tested it through our house, the official Netgear firmware has always had a stronger signal at the farthest locations, or even in the same room using the same channels.

It was that way with the Asus firmware also. The official Asus rt-n66u firmware always had a stronger signal than the 3rd party firmware did.

Re: NEW R 7000 Firmware R7000-V1.0.3.60_1.1.27

You have to keep in mind that wireless signals cycle up and down. So, to really understand what the "average" signal strength is, you need to look at it over a period of time. I've found here that signal strength from stock firmware and dd-wrt firmware are pretty much the same over a period of time. And tomato firmware is right in the same ballpark, signal strength-wise, but has not yet reached maturity.

I've been back and forth a lot between different firmware over the last 9 months, since I've been testing new stock versions, and stock debug versions, but usually end up back on dd-wrt due to reliability concerns.

Me too. I am getting drops on both Wifi and wired connections since this update. I am rebooting every evening when I come home and that brings it back up. My modem is a Motorola SB6141 which is clearly not the issue since my WNDR3700 v2 was rock solid for years (sadly I gave it to my father when I upgraded). I've reverted back to 1.0.3.56 since I wasn't experiencing these issues as much as with the new firmware. I'm very disappointed with this router so far after two weeks of ownership.

Re: NEW R 7000 Firmware R7000-V1.0.3.60_1.1.27

Has the reversion made the router stable now?

Sadly I didn't download the firmware - I just upgraded it directly from the router so I don't have the old revision.

I've gone back to the .56 revision. That's all I could find on the support site.

Let's see if it's any better.

If not it's going in the skip.

Since I downgraded to 1.0.3.56 the router has been rock stable for me. I have a happy wife now that she can watch Netflix without issue. 🙂

I'm still having issues. Mainly the netgear extenders when a device connects it fails to issue an internal IP address so ends up with a 169.x.x.x 😞

Very frustrated.
