NEW R 7000 Firmware V1.0.3.56_1.1.25

I just downloaded today's new release from the NetGear FTP.

Will not have time to flash it this AM, but let the testing begin and report our findings.

Re: NEW R 7000 Firmware V1.0.3.56_1.1.25

As feared, they did NOT work on and fix any of the wired/wireless connection issues that many of us have been experiencing. The release notes only list the Bridge/5G and iTunes Home sharing issues as resolved.

]V1.0.56_1.1.25

Release Notes:
1. [New Feature] Support DFS Channel for Japan Country.
2. [Bug Fix] Fix 5G bridge mode cannot connect issue.
3. [Bug Fix] Fix the iTunes Home sharing doesn t work thru bridge mode.

Re: NEW R 7000 Firmware V1.0.3.56_1.1.25

This is what my router said:

A new version has been found. Do You want to upgrade to the new version now?
Current GUI Language Version: 1.0.3.49_2.1.36.1
New GUI Language Version: 1.0.3.56_2.1.38.1
Current Firmware Version 1.0.3.49
New Firmware Version 1.0.3.56_1.1.25
Release Notes:
1. [New Feature] Support DFS Channel for Japan Country.
2. [Bug Fix] Fix 5G bridge mode cannot connect issue.
3. [Bug Fix] Fix the iTunes Home sharing doesn t work thru bridge mode.

Looks like "bridge" mode fixes mainly.

I have had a 42 day 14 hour+ up time and a 27 day 16 hour+ connection time with 1.0.3.49. Here to hoping 55 is just as good.

Re: NEW R 7000 Firmware V1.0.3.56_1.1.25

Just checked the Netgear support, they have not listed the new FW or release notes.

Since their going from .24 to .56, I suspect some minor tweaks and bug fixes. Lets hope for better 5G wifi tweaks

Now that I see what's included in 0.3.56... I 'm not going to bother.

1. [New Feature] Support DFS Channel for Japan Country.
2. [Bug Fix] Fix 5G bridge mode cannot connect issue.
3. [Bug Fix] Fix the iTunes Home sharing doesn t work thru bridge mode.

I do firmware updates to address specific issues, problems or incompatibilities. None of these items will enhance my current feature set.

Re: NEW R 7000 Firmware V1.0.3.56_1.1.25

htismaqe,
I guess I've just been lucky. I paused prior to making my purchase last week after reading your horror stories in the 1.0.3.24 thread above. But 5 days later my wireless printer is still present and my mixed OS wire/wireless devices are all talking to one another over the wired/wireless interface. Consistent thus far. But I'm still counting my lucky stars as more than one has complained about the same behavior you are experiencing. I hope .56 makes a difference for you.

Re: NEW R 7000 Firmware V1.0.3.56_1.1.25

Hi,
Never had problem with 1.03.49. Maybe because my router is not heavily loaded? Now I notice the latest f/w file size shrunk. No more mention of cloud. Busy playing with Linksys WRT right now trying
to run some tests against R7000.

Re: NEW R 7000 Firmware V1.0.3.56_1.1.25

This new firmware doesn't fix my "reboot or power cycle with IPv6 enabled" problem. Just tried it, and still lose my internet connection when rebooting the router with IPv6 enabled.

Back on dd-wrt again. That one didn't take long at all.

Another couple of months, I'll get another chance to see if Netgear can fix this problem.

Just can't wait.

Re: NEW R 7000 Firmware V1.0.3.56_1.1.25

Well, "technically" my throughput dropped 1.5 Mbps ... that's it. I consider this a wash however. When my benchmarks are less than a percent apart ... I consider that well within a margin of error considering other environmental factors that may come into play (Like: is my neighbor downloading a huge file at the same time generating a lot of noise? Or: Are there new access points around now that were not there prior?).

Hence, from a throughput perspective, I see this the same as 1.0.3.49.

Loaded this AM, set up IPV6 and all my security settings. GUI is very snappy.
D/L and U/L speed is fantastic both internet and to my server transferring large files is steady and fast. So far NO problems at all. Web pages also seem to load faster.

I have also noticed a snappier GUI on certain pages. I thought maybe it was just the "placebo" effect however so I did not mention.

So ... the GUI really is snappier ... or ... we are all taking the same drugs Smiley Wink

It is early days and may be just a reboot that has freshened it up but it does seem a little snappier whilst browsing.

How do you NOT lose internet when you reboot the router? That makes absolutely no sense at all.

Re: NEW R 7000 Firmware V1.0.3.56_1.1.25

Okay, a few more words. When IPv6 is enabled, and the router comes up after a reboot or power-cycle, the router's internet connection is not restored, it's gone, kaput, isn't there, non-existent, light is out, etc. I have to pull the WAN cable out of the back of the router for 15 or 20 seconds, and when I plug it back it, the internet connection is restored after a few more seconds.

That's just not normal. If you want to hear more about this, just mention it to searay *smile*.

If I do this without IPv6 enabled, I still have an internet connection after the router comes up from a reboot or power-cycle. Like I expect.

Re: NEW R 7000 Firmware V1.0.3.56_1.1.25

That is a strange problem. I have IPv6 enabled and have rebooted and powered cycled my R7000 on many different firmware and never had that problem.
