Re: (Need help) debrick unresponsive R6900v2

You can try recoving it with tftp or nmrpflash.
are you on windows? if so, follow this guide
https://kb.netgear.com/000059634/How-to-upload-firmware-to-a-NETGEAR-router-using-Windows-TFTP
just make sure you enable tftp
https://www.thewindowsclub.com/enable-tftp-windows-10

and here's a video walk through using a tftp client. Use the built in one for windows 10 though. the video is more of an example of how its done.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9DLrLQrpaw

and if that doesn't work, you can try using nmrpflash
https://github.com/jclehner/nmrpflash

Re: (Need help) debrick unresponsive R6900v2

did you follow the instructions precisely?

And make sure the file was extracted to the proper location?

If its not reading it, either its not extracted, not in the proper location, or your path/file name isn't correct.

Yes, I followed the instructions percisely!

And make sure the file was extracted to the proper location?

Yes, It was extracted using 7-zip and the file placed on the desktop, I  changed the directory to one drive on win 10.

If my pathway file name was not correct then how do I fix it?

Tough to know how to fix it when we can't see what you're typing into the command line or where the file is located. The command line requires you type it exact to the location and the file name. Thats why the video can help at times.

Have you tried using an earlier firmware?

Did you get any responses to the commands you entered?

They can point to possible problems.

This process depends on timing and can take several attempts.

Don't give up. Keep trying and pay attention to the responses you get.

Re: (Need help) debrick unresponsive R6900v2

2 things to try.

1. put the actual file on your desktop and not the onedrive.

2. rename the file name to something simple. This keeps simple errors from causing the issue.

Again, make sure you extracted it.

Re: (Need help) debrick unresponsive R6900v2

Also I'm seeing different models throughout your post. I've seen r6900, r6900P, R9000

Ensure the version of firmware is for your matching device. Look at the label on the route to confirm.

Re: (Need help) debrick unresponsive R6900v2

One drive is my desktop. The desktop command doesn't work on win 10 no more on cmd when I do it and my win 10 is fully updated. The folder is extracted as well and I could not find the model number on here and on the router it says R6900v2 |Nighthawk AC1900 Smart WiFi Dual Band Gigabit Router.

Re: (Need help) debrick unresponsive R6900v2

both my windows 10 and 11 devices have a standard desktop and the "onedrive desktop".

I can open/access either from my terminal.

Try it on the standard or even in the standard documents folder.

It shouldn't matter but its better safe than sorry. Especially when you're getting that notice.

Again, also try renaming it so you're sure it isn't an extra character/space/misspelling causing the issue.

You could simply call it r6900 . img

Re: (Need help) debrick unresponsive R6900v2

This is promising what cmd did.Instead of not recognizing the file directory I placed the file in one drive directory and it gave the output saying the TFTP transfer fails with error Connect request failed.

Re: (Need help) debrick unresponsive R6900v2

you could always try the other tftp methods. I've used tftp2.exe found in various sites. I reccomend watching a few videos on youtube on "how to debrick a router" which will tell you the steps to try unbricking your router. You'll need to change a few things on your IPv4 on your ethernet connection to make the tftp2.exe on your computer so I recommend you watch the youtube videos.

Re: (Need help) debrick unresponsive R6900v2

Try using nmrpflash.

Sometimes that works when tftp fails.

We do not have "competitors". You seem to be under the impression that the people who answered your questions work for Netgear. They don't. This community is essentially a user-to-user venue with some input from a small band of Netgear techies.

That might not be a good idea. Alternative firmware suppliers often require you to use something like TFTP, which does not seem to be something that comes easy to you.
