NetGear C7800 - I need to import my C7000 config file...

Hi, Thank you in advance for your help with this issue.

I just replaced my Netgear C7000 Cable and WiFi unit, with the newer Netgear C7800 Cable and WiFi unit, and I was expexting to easily import the C7000 configuration file into the new C7800 model. However, the C7800 unit will not accept it. I have a lot of IP address assigned to devices, and was hoping to avoid re-assinging them.

Anyone, know if a file converter is available..? or is there a way to edit the C7000 config file, so I could at least get the "IP to MAC" mappings to import into the newer C7800 unit.

Thanks again..for any help,

jeox

I wouldn't. I know it is unfortunate to have to do but once you've set it up, then you can take a backup and use that. Otherwise you can potentially cause larger issues than burning some time re-doing your setup.

Current setup: CM2000-> RBKE963B-> Trendnet TEG-S380-> GS716T-> pi-hole
also in AP setup: RAXE500->EAX80
1.4gig download/50mbps upload from Xfinity

   Apparently, your expectations were too high.

   So far as I know, you're out of luck.  Other than copy+paste into a
web browser, I'm unaware of any scheme which would be useful.  The
address reservation data are baked into the (single) saved-settings
file, which is generally model-specific.  I've seen no model-to-model
conversion tools, nor any way to export/import only selected settings.

   On some models, the saved-settings file is (mostly) plain text, and
could be edited easily, but even in those cases, there's a (binary)
checksum at the end which must be recalculated.  Someone may have
written a program to do that, but I don't have one.
