If I plug my computer directly into my router via a network cable, I get speeds at over 100 Mbps. If I use my computer via wifi, I only get speeds of 15.77 to 36.87...I called my cable provider and they changed my internet speed from 100 to 400, and it really isn't making any difference in the speed of my internet.
My modem is over 2 years old. Is there a way to find out if my modem is bad, should I just buy a new one, or should I break down and rent the one from my cable provider. I rented in the past and signal never seemed to go though my entire house, and this one does. I even tried a speed test on my phone standing next to the modem, and speeds did not improve.
Thank you

Are you testing connected to the 2.4ghz or the 5ghz?
5ghz is significantly faster than 2.4ghz.
for instance, my orbi usually gets 20-30mbps average over 2.4ghz but over 5ghz, I can hit 400-500mbps depending on device.

Re: Netgear C7000 Speeds
pretty good speeds.
You're paying for 400? What speed do you get hardwired into the C7000? it should be capable of hitting 400mbps over hardwired. wireless gets into a bit of a gray area as many different things impact wireless speeds.

Re: Netgear C7000 Speeds
I pay for 100...they upgrade to 400 at no cost.
