Netgear Nighthawk R7000 Firmware Version V1.0.11.100_10.2.100
I have 2 Windows 10 computers attached to my home router (i.e. the R7000).
For my issue scenario, 1 of the computers is hardwired to the router and the other is WiFi connected.
If I do a file copy from the hardwired to the WiFi wired computer, the copy is very slow.
If I connect them both to a hardwire connection, the copy is very fast.
Now, I know someone will write...duh, hardwired is much faster then WiFi...I get that part.
But the copy is exceptionally slow.
Specifically, I am copying 128 MB (124 files) and it takes almost 15-20 minutes.
So, I am trying to think thru why this is the case.
My first thoughts about these kinds of issues are: anti-virus and firewalls.
On both computers, I am using the Microsoft anti-virus software that comes free with the operating system.
I don't know if that anti-virus performs differently if it understands a copy if coming from a WiFi interface vs a hardwired interface.
BTW, both my hardwired and WiFi NIC "profiles" are "private" (as opposed to public and/or domain).
I am running the Microsoft firewall on both computers...disabling them is not really an option for me.
So, which leads me to my question:
Does the router perform firewall functions between the hardwired and WiFi traffic (even when the computers are on the same subnet)?
If yes, is there a way to configure it?
Thanks very much in advance!
Tony.

It certainly can be. There are more potential variables and
restrictions.

And yet:

Why? All the software is the same; only the hardware is different.
Are you using the same source and destination storage volumes in each
case?

Sounds unlikely to me.

I wouldn't expect Windows file sharing to work otherwise.

Other than stuff related to "guest networks", I wouldn't expect a
difference.
Before blaming the software, I'd look more closely at the hardware.
Do Internet speed test results differ greatly on the
sometimes-wireless computer between when it's wired or wireless? (Is
this a problem with the wireless interface for file sharing or for any
communication?)
What does Windows have to say about the speed of that wireless
interface?
Does a different wired/wireless computer see the same difference?
General wireless stuff? Different radio band or channel? (Which
band are you using?)
Compare copying in the other direction?

Not with that firmware version.
