Netgear R7000 internet port address is wrong

I have a nighthawk R7000 which gets the IP address of my ISP router (Drei router). I use No-Ip for DDNS. Some days ago I noticed that the internet port in the router settings shows a different IP address than the one of my ISP. No-Ip gets updated fine with the correct address. Simply the internet port shows a different IP. Can anyone explain why and how to fix this?

If the R7000 WAN/Internet interface is configured as BASIC >
Internet > Internet IP Address : Get Dynamically from ISP, then the
WAN/Internet address of the R7000 is determined by whatever is connected
to its WAN/Internet port.  If that address something like "10.209.x.y",
then the fault lies with the "a drei Router" or with your ISP.

Better late than never, I suppose.

That could explain it.  When you had a static address, I'd guess that
your ISP gave you a static public address.  Now that you have a dynamic
address, I'd guess that your ISP is using "Carrier-grade NAT", and it's
giving you a private (CGN) address, not a public address.

> The ip adress of the internet port is 10.209.XX.XXX

That one.  (It's a private address, so there's no need to hide any of
it.)

> I know what the ip address of my drei router is [...]

Do you?  How, exactly?  If it's really "in bridge mode"?  Did your
"my drei router" tell you that, or is that what you got from the DDNS
service (or some site like https://whatismyipaddress.com)?

As usual, showing actual actions (commands) with their actual results
(error messages, LED indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague
descriptions or interpretations.  How you arrived at your conclusion may
be more important than what your conclusion is.

Ask your ISP about "Carrier-grade NAT".  If your "my drei router" is
really "in bridge mode", then I would expect it to be too stupid to
assign anything to anyone.  All it would do would be to let your R7000
talk directly to your ISP, and _that_ is who would determine the
WAN/Internet IP address of the R7000.  In this case, the R7000 appears
to be the victim, not the perpetrator.

Huh?  What is your "my ISP router (Drei router)"?  How many routers
are you using?  What, exactly, is connected to what?  (Hint: If a device
has multiple Ethernet ports, then "connected to device" is not enough
detail.)  Especially, to what, exactly, is the WAN/Internet interface of
the R7000 connected?  What is the IP address of the R7000 WAN/Internet
interface?

> [...] No-Ip gets updated fine with the correct address. [...]

Which address is "the correct address"?  What is this "the correct
address"?  ("a.b" of "a.b.c.d" would be enough of your public IP address
to satisfy my curiosity.)

Re: Netgear R7000 internet port address is wrong

I use a drei Router in Bridge mode. It should assign the public ip address to my r7000 at the internet port. But the internet port of my r7000 is different.

That tells me approximately nothing.  Has it a model identifier?

   Says who?

Yes, if your ISP gives you a public IP address, and if your
(unspecified) "a drei Router" really is "in Bridge mode".

Still wondering.  (About all the other questions, too.)

What happens if you return your (unspecified) "a drei Router" to
router mode?  What, then, is the IP address of its WAN/Internet
interface?

Re: Netgear R7000 internet port address is wrong

Drei Router: model b715s-23c

It's in bridge mode because I put it in. First I paid for a static ip address and it worked (static address was at the internet port) but now I changed back to a dynamic public ip and my netgear router doesn't get the public ip at the internet port.

The ip adress of the internet port is 10.209.XX.XXX

I know what the ip address of my drei router is but I dont understand why it doesn't assign it to my netgear router like it did when I had a static ip address.

Re: Netgear R7000 internet port address is wrong

Yes, it's a Huawei unit.

I logged in to the Huawei unit and set it to bridge mode.

Yes, the R7000 is set to get the ip address dynamically from ISP.

No, I needed the static address for something.

I know the ip address of the site you linked and also from the DDNS provider No-Ip.

Never heard of this NAT type.
