Netgear R7000 not allowing for more than 6 to 7 simultaneous connections
Dear Support,
We have recently purchased a Netgear R7000 Router for our office. We are working with a media realted application and while testing, it is found that we are not able to stream video to over 6 connected mobile devices. We would like to know regarding the settings which controls this. Please guide us on how to configure the router so that it allows multiple devices to download simultaniously.
This is an urgent requirement, please respond at the earlies.
Thank You

Well, this isn't Netgear Support, the forum participants are users and volunteers. You can get Netgear support by starting at my netgear.com.
My question for you is how much download bandwidth do you have, and how much bandwidth does each stream require?

Re: Netgear R7000 not allowing for more than 6 to 7 simultaneous connections
I did not mean to address this for Support. It is more meant for the forum readers seeking help.
We have a set of wireless clients, who download large files from a File Server. As the connections get added, no more than 6 wireless clients can connect to the router. The reason why we know that is because the request for the download does not even arrive at the File Server from the wireless client.
Are there are any settings in the router that need to be set/reset to enable for large data downloads from multiple wireless clients? We could possibly have around 12 to 14 client connections at a time.
Thx

Any wifi device can handle @25 wifi devices but every wifi devices connects will reduce the bandwidth so it is possible that if all 6 uses streaming at same time you can/will have an issues.
There isn't setting makes every wifi devices connect never loose the bandwidth and has no loss

return the r7000 and try a r8000 it has two 5g radios.
Or add a AP with different SSID to split the loads.

I really like this device, however it is a consumer/home wireless ap, not a business class wireless solution. You really should contact a local var and have them perform a site survey and design and deploy a proper commercial wireless solution like meraki, aerohive or a small business cisco. It worth the extra cost in the long run, especially when you factor in the productivity losses you may be experiencing.

Cheaper to deploy Meraki killer , Open Mesh
Meraki is now part of Cisco .... 🙂
