Netgear R7000P slow wifi

Hi,

So, I just recently purchased a brand new R7000P Netgear Nighthawk. Setup was easy and the streaming has been pretty stable but the wifi has been extremely slow and frustrating.

Not only that, I can't see the Netgear 5G either. It just lags and sometimes the connection just dies (only 3 things are connected thus far to it). I'm not sure if I missed a step or 2 but I need assistance.

Please advise.

Re: Netgear R7000P slow wifi

I had to downgrade my firmware (available on their site) to v1.3.1.26 and turn MU-MIMO OFF to get reliable wifi. Just a suggestion.

Steps please? Downgrading, wouldn't that be a safety hazard?

If that's the case, is the nighthawk worth it?!

Safety hazard? Potentially depending on if they have even put any security patches in.

IMHO the nighthawk is not worth the firmware agravation folks are going through. My r8000 and r8000p never got stable firmware so I went elsewhere. In my case away from consumer grade routers as they all seem to have similar issues.

Re: Netgear R7000P slow wifi

do you have one of these setups where the router is separate from the wireless access point?
Which AP you use for stable Wifi?

Re: Netgear R7000P slow wifi

I had issues with r7000 when first bought.
Try this tell me what happens

1) install latest firmware
2) reboot
3)reset to factory settings physically (using the reset button on the device)
4) reboot
5) setup as new device (don’t import previous setups or backup files)

tell me what happens,
