Netgear R7000p firmware V1.3.1.64_10.1.36 still using MD5 Certs?

Hi!

Was looking to start using the VPN capability of my R7000P but when I tried using it I get the following errors from openVPN v11.15.0.0 (from the OpenVPN log):

Enter Management Password:
Mon May 11 14:37:41 2020 WARNING: No server certificate verification method has been enabled.  See http://openvpn.net/howto.html#mitm for more info.
Mon May 11 14:37:41 2020 OpenSSL: error:140AB18ESmiley FrustratedSL routinesSmiley FrustratedSL_CTX_use_certificate:ca md too weak
Mon May 11 14:37:41 2020 Cannot load certificate file client.crt

Hoping someone can help!

thx

Mike

Updating:  the certificates updated!  I tried putting on the beta update from the netgear website.  it failed so I rebooted the router and a screen popped up telling me the routers certs were being upgraded!  i just tested with my phone ant that appears to have fixed things.

however the following warnong is still present:

Mon May 11 17:33:42 2020 WARNING: No server certificate verification method has been enabled.  See http://openvpn.net/howto.html#mitm for more info.

I went to the link above and it wasn;t too helpful to me anyway.  Most of the other googling shows non netgear server installs.  Anyone that can provide any insight is much appreciated.

thx

Mike

Well no replies, so I think I solved my own problem.  I set the router back to factory defaults and didn't add in netgear armor. so far the router has remained stable. It's been 4 days so far.
