Netgear R8000p in bridge mode

I replaced my old Nighthawk X8 that no longer works with a Netgear X6S Ac4000  R8000p. In the old setup I used the X8 in bridge mode with my fFIOS Actiontec router. Though I have read the instructions to setup Bridge mode for the X6s I cannot seem to make it work. When I select Bridge mode I can no longer access the Netgear router.

First I will explain how I used the X8 in Bridge mode. I was able to connect the X8 via an ethernet cable to the Actiontec router. Then I was able to connect additional devices via the X8 both using ethernet ports and WIFI. This is what I want to do with the new X6S.

Is this possible or do I need to send back the X6S and change back to a new X8?

The fact that you need to explain what "bridge mode" means (to you)
suggests that "bridge mode" is not a well-defined term, and that there's
probably a better one.

   Which "the instructions", where?

How, exactly, did you do that?

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation.  Get the User Manual.  Read.  Look for "Use the
Router as a WiFi Access Point".  For more helpful pictures, fetch the
R7000 User Manual, and look there.

Which "the instructions", where? From the user manual on Netgear.

How, exactly, did you do that?  Went to advanced tab: Advanced Setup,  Router/AP/Bridge Mode

From your question it appears you are not familiar with the X6S settings. I attached a piture

Access point mode does not work for my needs. I cannot use the ethernet ports in AP Mode.

I can read the User Manual, but I can't see what you did.

No, a wireless access point is exactly what you want for this:

In bridge mode, I would not expect wireless access to be available,
because the R8000P wireless stuff would be used to communicate with the
main router.  In access-point mode, the Ethernet ports _should_ work.

That screen shot was directly of the X6S settings page.

Well I am running in AP Mode but Ethernet ports do not work.

As I said before   " With the the X8 in Bridge mode I was able to connect additional devices using both
 Ethernet ports and WIFI"

That's a problem.  But I doubt that "bridge mode" is a solution.

"not work" is not a useful problem description.  It does not say what
you did. It does not say what happened when you did it.  As usual,
showing actual actions (commands) with their actual results (error
messages, LED indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague
descriptions or interpretations.

With Netgear firmware, almost any problem is possible.  You might try
using one of the LAN ports instead of the WAN/Internet port for the
connection to your main router.

> As I said before [...]

"X8" is not a model number.  And, again, "Bridge mode" is a less than
clear description of what you did.

It worked fine with my Nighthawk X8

Tried both but neither work.

Sorry the box says Nighthawk X8 but I thought there was only one X8 model so I dropped the Nighthawk.

Re: Netgear R8000p in bridge mode

Maybe someone can answer this: I have attached a picture showing settings for Bridge mode. The manuel does not cover this at least anywhere I can find.

Question is the defaut  has 2 checks in boxes under get ip address Dynamically and Get DNS address Dynamically but there are also places to manualy add ip addresses.

Do I need to enter manualy or just leave boxes checked?

Re: Netgear R8000p in bridge mode

You should just leave the boxes checked unless you need a specific Ip address.
