Netgear92 went 'down' then when re-connected, changed the network name???
After a frustrating morning trying to figure out why my router disconnected, I finally got it back online but it is now calling itself "netgear925G" instead of the name it always had before. Consequently none of my devices recognize it. How can I re-name the Router? I have 'Genie' too and have gone through all the settings I can find but I need my 2 names back (5 and 2.4) on them and just cannot find a setting. I had to completely re-start the router, give username/p/w all over again because it had morphed back to it's original settings for some reason. Meanwhile, I have 26 devices that cannot connect.
help?
netgear92, 6700
TIA
well, all it took was for me to throw up my hands and a bunch of devices and things are beginning to limp back. I appreciate your offer. I think I've got it from here. One by one by one. 17 are connected, 9 to go. hahahahaha

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?Are you factory resetting the router and setting up from scratch using a wired PC and web browser and walking thru the setup wizard?

Ok. Hope its working for you.
I would recommend that you change the SSID name to something different and more unique than Netgear92. Thats mostly a default seeing out of the box and Netgear intends for its users to change this name to something else. The default is only an initial setup name and recommends users changing it some thing else.
Also recommend making a backup configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.
