New DVR uses P2P for remote connectivity

Harware R8000P

Firmware V1.4.1.50_1.3.10

I purchased a new Night Owl HC20X series DVR, which has connectivity for both wired and wireless cameras. Everything was going great. Cameras up, app loaded, connected with no issues via wifi.

Now I leave the house, nothing on the carrier (AT&T) network. Not surprised, what's the odds both the old and new use the same port? When I get back to the house, I go looking for port info. Nothing. I finally started a chat with Night Owl. There is no port, she says. The DVR establishes a P2P network. After nearly an hour of failed attempts, she gives up and says it must be the router. I can't deny it, as I do not know about P2P network requirements or setup. But I know this router does a good job of keeping things out!

How do I allow P2P connectivity from outside?
