Re: New - R7000 Firmware Version 1.0.11.134 Released

Wow thanks for the informative info. I just tried newly installed Firefox ESR, didn't work :(.
As for the re-load, I won't be able to do that very soon. Since last time I loaded the FM caused a few hours without internet connection, got quite a lot of complaints from my family.

Re: New - R7000 Firmware Version 1.0.11.134 Released

One of my two R7000s has been on v134 for 3 weeks and it has been working well. Here's a few comments:

1. My GUI sub-menu under the ADVANCED tab is wrong about 50% of the time, as described in the previous posts, but clicking my browser (chrome) refresh several times fixes it for the remainder of the session.

2. My 5ghz WiFi is solid. I leave two PCs connected 24/7 over 5ghz with their "connect automatically" unchecked and they never disconnect. I've seen the numerous R7000 user reports of 5ghz problems for years but for some unknown reason, many users, like me, don't have those problems. A mystery. It might be a hardware bug activated by certain FW versions.

3. Question: How do I access the R7000 DEBUG page referred in the previous posts?

Re: New - R7000 Firmware Version 1.0.11.134 Released

Yep, confirming that 5GHz is badly broken. I did the following again:

1 - hard reset.
2 - check for firmware update, nothing showed available
3 - sideload new 134 firmware
4 - hard reset
5 - input all settings manually rather than loading a cfg file.
6 - connect wifi devices and try again.

There is no change. 5GHz drops frequently from nearly all devices using 5GHz. 2.4 stays rock solid and fully connected. To those of you who don't believe you're experiencing any issues with 5GHz, are you able to run a packet loss test for a few hours at a time. I use Zoom at work all day and it's unusable on 5GHz. It works on 2.4 as well as wired, but 5GHz experiences unbearable drops sometimes for a few seconds but sometimes for minutes at a time.

I ended up throwing my R7000 away over the weekend.

Re: New - R7000 Firmware Version 1.0.11.134 Released

I would have disabled the wifi radios on the R7000 and install a wireless AP to the R7000 and continued to use the router portion. Oh well

Good luck.

Re: New - R7000 Firmware Version 1.0.11.134 Released

I am not using the modem provided by ISP, which is very shoddy and always disconnected on itself. Although I don't think it has anything to do with the modem, the model is HUAWEI HG8010H. Check details here:

https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z09.2.0.0.57382e8dftCzP2&id=586024826476&_u=mhuu5qu788d

Not sure about the packet loss test, but I did ran a ping test from my pc for an hour and the result is in the attatched screenshot. The device @192.168.1.2 is my iphone, I can confirm from the device page that it connected via the 5Ghz band. AFAIK, 5GHz really depends on the distance between the device and the router, is there anything jamming or blocking the signal? Thick walls maybe?

About the GUI, I found something in the console of the browser:

start.htm:1902 Uncaught TypeError: $(...).tabs is not a function
at HTMLDocument.<anonymous> (start.htm:1902:15)
at Function.ready (VM520 jquery.js:38:289)
at HTMLDocument.L (VM520 jquery.js:45:151)

I went to start.htm:1902:15 and found out this function hadn't been triggered properly:

$(function() {
// setup ul.tabs to work as tabs for each div directly under div.panes
$("ul.tabs").tabs("> .pane");
var pnpx = 0
if(pnpx == 1){
$("#AdvanceTab").click();
$("#basic-pane").css("display","none");
$("#adv-pane").css("display","block");
pnpx = 0;
}
});

So I tried inputting the following code into the console:

$("#basic-pane").css("display","none");
$("#adv-pane").css("display","block");

After that the adv pane loaded successfully, with the basic pane being unable to switch to.
This should give some clues to the devs regarding this glitch.

@Sinnis

I checked my R7000 today and I can access the Advanced Tab and pages fine: MS Edge

MSEdge_AdvancedTabPage_v134.png

No modification of the web page code either from the console. Though I do notice same code you found. Another item I found is a title listing for a WNDR3400 in the code. Found that kind of odd.

Re: New - R7000 Firmware Version 1.0.11.134 Released

@FURRYe38

From your screenshot, I see that you don't have any percentage bars in the admin page. How strange. I'm wondering if you had missed any updates on R7000? Did you keep a record of your update sequence?

I had been running the Merlin FW since 2016 when I bought the router. Until a couple of months ago, my r7000 started to randomly reboot every 3-4 days, flashing back to the stock FW (from V1.0.3.24_1.1.20 to V128) fixed the problem. 0 spontaneous reboots after that. I still had the cpu percentage bar on v128. It could be missing some of the FW in between causing the GUI issue.

Re: New - R7000 Firmware Version 1.0.11.134 Released

What percentage bars are you referring to? Please post a screen capture of this. As far as I know there hasn't been any percentage bars on this page whatsoever on stock NG FW.

Merlin FW on the R7000? Do you mean the ASUSMerlin 3rd party FW? That's a completely different FW and UI and not officially supported here.

This router has only run stock and was given to me a couple of years ago as my work didn't need it anymore and phased stuff out so I took it home. I believe it had a v.30ish something when I got it. I loaded it up with what was available back then. I had v.34 loaded on it last year I believe then decided to jump to most current and see if any problems are seen. So far, when i had the router running, ran great. No issues. The only issue is with the NH app can't get logged in. Something I passed to NG for review.

Re: New - R7000 Firmware Version 1.0.11.134 Released

I am talking about the RAM and CPU percentage bar. You can find the screenshot at message#20 in this thread. If I remember correctly, I did had those even before flashing Merlin. I understand that 3rd party FW is unsupported here, but now that I'm back to the stock FW, I feel like I can be supported. Anyway thanks for the detailed description.

Ok, wondering if that was a feature in early FW and was removed in recent. I'll check the debug page on mine however I presume it's not there.

Thank you for your reply. For my understanding - how would this work exactly? Go in to settings, turn of wifi, then how does one "install a wireless AP"? I bought a TP-Link Deco X60 mesh with 3 units to replace the R7000, so I would basically wire those to the R7000 and set them all to AP mode instead of router mode?
Are there any advantages to using the R7000 for routing rather than the new Deco units? Cheers.

Makes perfect sense, thanks for the quick response!
Unfortunately I already went through the pain of reconfiguring 50ish devices to connect to the new network. If there is some sort of speed or efficiency gain in routing traffic by using the R7000, I can easily switch over to the set up you proposed but just updaing the name of the old network to the new one. Would it still have any such advantage perhaps?

Re: New - R7000 Firmware Version 1.0.11.134 Released

You could have used same SSID name and PW on the new wifi system and connected it to the R7000 and all of your devices would have connected.

Did you already remove the R7000 from the mix?

I would have used the same SSID but I had 2 separate networks on the R7000 for 2.4 and 5Ghz with different names so figured i'd get a fresh start with the new network using only a single network name.
Yes the R7000 is currently sitting in my Goodwill donation box and completely out of the mix but I can easily bring it back in the mix if there's any advantage to doing so. I can have the R7000 plug in to the modem, then set the new Decos to be APs if there's somet upside to this approach.

Up to you weather or not if you want to continue using the R7000 router portion with the external wifi mesh system in AP mode.

Re: New - R7000 Firmware Version 1.0.11.134 Released

Hi There,

I am currently on 1.0.11.110_10.2.100 Firmware version and it seems my download wifi speed on my wifi computer and phone are averaging 200mbps.  my ISP modem speed tested has a 950+mbps DL and 500mbps (UL) speed.  I would be happy to get close to 700mbps for my home computer and iPhone 12 Pro max

do you think the most recent firmware is reliable and can give me that speed?

My connection signal seem to be weak late in the evening when we have 10 devices online.  should I do the update to the frimware 1.0.11.134?  Please let me know Thank you.

Re: New - R7000 Firmware Version 1.0.11.134 Released

Most Wi-Fi devices will max out at around 400-500Mpbs on the down on any 5Ghz AC class router. This mostly by design of the Wi-Fi spec and configuration on how devices connect and how Wi-Fi devices are designed.

What I saw when I loaded my R7000 up:

Thanks for the input.  Would you recommend me upgrading to the new firmware?  It just bothers me when my PC connected to 5ghz is only getting 200 mbps average DL.  My upload is higher then download in most cases. see my screen shot that I just did for my pc running Mac OS on intel i9.
