New Router

Hello all,

I have purchased a new router but all my systems including Netgear Genie page will not let go of the old system. How can I get rid of it or deactivate it?

Thanks,

LMC

Did you use the same ssid and passphrease as the old router so you old devices would see the old network name?

What router did you get?

What os are you running?

What is going on you can not access the internet or what?

what devices are talking about?

Re: New Router

Thanks for the reply.

What router did you get? - Nighthawk AC 1900 - R7000

What os are you running? - Windows 10

What is going on you can not access the internet or what? - the Netgear Genie page lists the old unit - my cell phone still only recognizes the old unit, TV's still list the old unit.

Re: New Router

Set the new router to old ssid and pass phrease that's the old devices are looking for unless you reconnect the the new ssid and passphrease.

you may have power down the new router and old devices and let them find the ip address on power up.

Is your genie the latest they have recoded to work windows 10?

Re: New Router

Thanks again!

I have done all this unplugging and on and off stuff many times and it is not working. I have registered the new SSID and it is listed but nothing is seeing it.

It is a brand new Netgear item.

Re: New Router

What was the security setting of your old router wep,wpa,wpa2?

What are you using now?

Can you devices support your security setting?

Re: New Router

Try uninstalling Genie.  It has given me so many problems that I never install it any more.

if your devices support wpa only wpa2 will not work on them.

Re: New Router

Thanks all,

I think I got it - on the Genie page I removed all the information for the old unit and replaced it with the new info even though the new info is already list in it's own section below it and I now have WiFi on my phone - will check all the TV's shortly - partial success!

Thanks!
