Last update from me. Since flashing back to the older firmware. It is running perfectly. No drops or restarts at all. Something is definitely up with the latest firmware.

I have the same experience with the latest firmware, all the ones before had the losing access to wireless printers from a wired computer, but that one hasn't happened on this firmware for 22 days uptime. I'm happy finally, before this router was such a piece of crap.

Re: New firmware R7000-V1.0.3.68_1.1.31.chk

I upgraded from the interface and had all sorts of connection issues. I think I was on .27 as it had been a while. This router had been perfect and of course I had to mess with it. After reading here, I downgraded to .60 and everything seemed more stable. After reading what RogerSC had to say, I wrote down my settings and reset to factory defaults. Via a wired connection, I downloaded .68 and uploaded it. Again, reset to factory defaults. I hand loaded my settings and BAM! This is rock solid, fast, and again perfect. Good update. 🙂

Re: New firmware R7000-V1.0.3.68_1.1.31.chk

I have had loads of problems with WiFi on this firmware. HP printer stops working, WiFi OpenElec box stops being able to get an IP via DHCP, Xbox One Smartglass on iphone won't connect to Xbox One over Wifi etc.

Factory reset makes no difference whatsoever its a firmware issue for sure.

I reached the point of just just planning to sell the R7000 on eBay and getting an Asus AC68u. However I decided to try Kong's dd-wrt firmware and since then I have had no problems at all.

Re: New firmware R7000-V1.0.3.68_1.1.31.chk

To ensure proper operation I would say they you MUST! do the following:

ALWAYS do a Factory Reset before installing Firmware.

ALWAYS do a Factory Reset after installing Firmware.

NEVER load Saved Settings after updating Firmware.

ALWAYS enter your Settings MANUALLY after updating Firmware.

Following the above has made my installation of 7 R7000's reliable for extended periods.

I agree, I've been using mostly dd-wrt for some months now, was an early user of dd-wrt on the R7000, and am very happy with it. I occasionally go and use a new stock release or a new tomato firmware release, but have ended back on dd-wrt at some point. Hard to beat great performance, plus solid and stable.

You can try official release

Or beta release
ftp://downloads.netgear.com/temp/

R7000-V1.0.4.4_1.1.37.chk works well for me. I notice WIFI and LAN speed very stable and fast.

I see that R7000-V1.0.4.4_1.1.37.chk is about 8 MB bigger than the official releases so far. Do you see added functionality? I support that at least some of that larger size may be explained by including debug functionality, symbol tables, etc.

Re: New firmware R7000-V1.0.3.68_1.1.31.chk

I do not know, never compare with previous one. Here are my speedtest result (ISP 250 Mbps plan) via LAN wired http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3803561420 via handphone WIFI 5GHz (at bedroom while router in livingroom 5m away, separated by 1 thick concrete wall) http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/989103785 Also you should try to find the best antenna orientation for you It depends on where your client devices are located in relation to the router. I would try | | |, _ | _ , \ | /, etc, and see which provides the best throughput. As for me \ | / orientation works best.

Re: New firmware R7000-V1.0.3.68_1.1.31.chk

I updated my R7000 a few weeks after the notification popped up. I thought everything was fine until I started using the Internet as well as having issues with my VoIP traffic. I went to speedtest.net as well as my provider's speed test and both would crash at the upload portion of the test. My downloads were seriously affected as well giving very erratic numbers through out the test. FYI, this was all tested on wired LAN.

I downgraded to .60 after a factory reset and reconfigured everything manually and everything is very stable and fast. The .60 is actually the most stable build for all features in this router since I bought it in April. No issues with LAN <-> WiFi traffic, no speed issues, no WiFi issues. I love this router with the .60 build.

I have to admit that I did not default and reconfigure my router after the update to .68, but that should not really affect the wired Internet speeds the way it did. I may be mistaken, but I have installed, configured and updated hundreds of routers (including Adtran, Linksys, D-Link, Asus, among others) over the years and never had an Internet speed issue after an upgrade without defaulting and reconfiguring.

If anyone has a different experience with .68, where everything works perfectly and has fast Internet speed then I will default, upgrade, default and reconfigure my router to try it again. I am just too busy to fart around with it right now since I have a ton of configuration in my router.

Regards!

Re: New firmware R7000-V1.0.3.68_1.1.31.chk

I had a look at the R7000-V1.0.4.4_1.1.37.chk and it looks like there are a couple of new features. Under USB functions you have a Readyshare Vault for backing up a PC, and under Advanced setup you have Facebook WiFi - enable guest network, customers "Like" your facebook page before proceeding to access your guest network. There seems to be a glitch here since you cannot disable local LAN access.

I'm now running R7000-V1.0.4.5_20140912_Lan_Try2.chk 28.4 MB 12/09/2014 09:55:00, thought I would try it. Nothing much different to the .37.chk, I still have to run the R7000 in AP mode in order to see the rest of my LAN, using it downstream from a DGND3700.

Well, this is curious...

I had the same problem as Xerses with .68 Firmware. The speed test failed(I was on a wired connection) and my laptop wouldn't connect wirelessly so I wen't to the firmware that he also went to(.60). Everything seems fast and stable.

I have installed 1.0.4.4_1.1.37 and it is running without any issues. Lan download speed is showing 190mbps and upload around 30mbps from cox.

In 5g wifi mode, HTC one reached max of 165 Mbps. There is no disconnect form last 48 hours

V1.0.4.4_1.1.37 is working well for me, also. I found that this is a debug version, since it has the secret debug page where you can turn on real logging, etc.

Re: New firmware R7000-V1.0.3.68_1.1.31.chk

There is now a R7000-V1.0.3.80_1.1.38.chk available in the main R7000 folder.
From what I can see, the difference from the previous version is the Router Status now comes before Logs under the Administration menu.
The extra USB stuff, e.g. netgear Vault, Cloud, etc is missing, as is the Facebook WiFi, as seen in the beta versions. Looks like they did not make it into this update.
So far seems pretty stable.....

Re: New firmware R7000-V1.0.3.68_1.1.31.chk

Very little info on those FW's in the Temp folder. Looks like some DFS stuff for some of the wireless channels, a Facebook sharing thing and some USB stuff. I've gleaned that from posts from others who are using them.

I have been using the TRY2 one without issue. Trying the newly officially released FW since last night currently. No problems with it either.

Have multiple clients including several Apple devices. No reboots, no dropped Wi-Fi, etc., with either the TRY2 one or this latest .3...... variant.
