Re: New firmware V1.0.2.46

It's recommended to use v.38 FW and not any newer #4# versions. There is a problem in the recent FW.

You can also try Voxels FW as well:

Re: New firmware V1.0.2.46

but really netgear releases a firmware that does not work? even 3 times 40/44/46 ... and the best solution is a non-original firmware (Voxel) after netgear has added official support to the VPN ... but at least someone has managed to prove that this VPN support is functional? can you hope that in a short time this problem will be solved? I would like to set up my network and enjoy the service .. I do not want to redo the network every day ... also because I have a lot of connected devices and it will be a job already to make the first configuration ....

Re: New firmware V1.0.2.46

Wasn't caught until others users did more of there own testing.

I would revert back to v38 either NG FW or Try Voxels.

Re: New firmware V1.0.2.46

Really stay away from this horrible version. Problems that were supposed to have been resolved in .44 are re-introduced in this version .46 ( html error 400). In AP mode you cannot set a fixed IP address though I have been referring this to support since version .40 and nothing has changed. My recommendation if it is still possible for you  to return this device  get the Asus 86u. Have had an Asus for 5 years before this one and never got a single firmware issue. The guys behind the production of those firmware really don't know what it is to test software. This is unfortunate because the hardware is really good in terms of wifi signal strenght. I totally agree that you should stay on version .38

Re: New firmware V1.0.2.46

I am using version 1.0.2.44, and I have not rebooted the router in 40 days. QoS has been broken since v 1.0.2.40, but versions through 1.0.2.44 have been stable for me. The problem with version 1.0.2.38 is that it has several significant security holes that have been patched in subsequent firmware updates. After updating the firmware, I would do a factory reset and then re-configure the router by hand.

Re: New firmware V1.0.2.46

Thank you for the interest and for replying. Problem is that in .44 , in the resolved issues section, there is an item that says "

  • Fixes an issue in which GUI responds “400 Bad Request” when setting  the wireless password including special characters, such as '\'.

But you know what, they have re-introduced this bug in .46. When i do a factory reset of the router , it brings you to a screen where where you are being asked to enter a login password and configure 2 security questions. When you try to save this you get a screen that says error 400 bad request. You cannot exit this stupid loop. Contrary to what's being said above, i use no special characters, no numbers, no caps , only letters. You can't imagine how frustrating it is to not to be able to exit this stupid Genie wizard. This is pretty basic. A router is as good as it's weekest link. Here the software is simply not up to the task.I understand that there are security issues in versions prior to .40 but i simply cannot install versions that i cannot configure. Seriously considering moving to ddwrt or vortex

Re: New firmware V1.0.2.46

it's really amazing to be aware of all this discomfort ... I spent my time comparing the hardware .... and then becoming aware that the netgear software is not buggy, but not usable by what you write. .. Thursday I will get the modem I will connect to the modem wan ... I will insert only the PC LAN, at this point update to the .46 ... if they encountered this problem put it back in the box and send it back to Amazon .. and I will buy an asus ac86u ... which will cost me twice as much ... I managed to find r7800 at 130 ... while the asus stands on 260 € ... this because voxel seems to me that it has a configuarzione too difficult for my knowledge ... DDwrt too dated ... while the Merlin of Asus seems very intuitive and functional ...
