Hey everyone,
I'm not sure if I selected the right model but I bought this one
NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1900 Dual Band WiFi Gigabit Router (R7000)
I have a couple questions. I bought today the Nighthawk AC1900 Smart router to help improve the signal and speeds for the house.
I live in Canada and I am with Rogers Cable. I have the Nighthawk router contacted to my ISP modem via Ethernet cable. The problem I have is every time I try to connect to the net-gear via routerlogin net to configure the settingI get a message saying:
" You are not connected to your Router’s WiFi network. To access routerlogin.net, your device must be connected to your Router’s WiFi network. Check your current connection and try again. "
So before the process I thought I would have to have the current WiFi setting turned off under 192.168.0.1 but after that message I thought I had enabled it again but I still get that message.
side note is the QoS setting worth having on once I get everything working ?

Soo I ended up factory resetting the Nighthawk router and reinstalled everything and it worked like a charm the second time around !! I tried the QoS setting and it ended up slighty decreasing my download speeds but greatly reducing my uploads speeds so I wont be using that setting unfortunately. It did sound good in theroy though haha

Welcome to what may be the worst error message in the world. For an
explanation, try:
https://community.netgear.com/t5/x/x/m-p/1365830
Briefly, the idea is that "[www.]routerlogin.net" should point to
your own router, but that's true only if you use your own router for DNS
name resolution. Irregardful, you should be able to get to the thing
using its IP address, if you can determine (or guess) that.
The User Manual for your router should tell you what its default LAN
IP address is, if it's not the usual 192.168.1.1. Otherwise, you can
often get it from your computer's IP configuration as the default
gateway or router address (or some similar description).

You lost me.
According to its User Manual, the default IP address for an R7000 is
192.168.1.1, not 192.168.0.1. Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in
your model number, and look for Documentation.
If you need help finding the DNS configuration of your (unspecified)
computer/device, then it might help to reveal what you're using.
Note that "AC1900" is a speed, not a model number. Ever
helpful, Netgear product packaging emphasizes speeds like "ACxxxx", but
that's not the model identifier. "R7000" is a model number.

Opinions differ. I'd run the experiment.

Re: New router installed today
The fact that it worked properly second time around could be down to the way you set the thing up. These things can be very picky about the order in which you do things. Get it wrong and the wrong box tries to take control of the network settings.
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
- Turn off and unplug the modem.
- Turn off the modem router and computers.
- Plug in the modem and turn it on. Wait 2 minutes.
- Turn on the modem router and wait 2 minutes.
- Turn on the computers.

Only if you still have problems that you are trying to fix.
If not, then, mark your problem as solved.

Re: New router installed today
What speed is your Internet? Netgear says turn it off for really fast (~Gb) Internet, probably on the ground that you don't need it.
