NightHawk R8000 - IP Addresses Frequently Reassigned

A common (and frustrating) event is a reassignment of many of the IP addresses on my network. I go to bed with everything running fine. When I get up, the printer that was ".2" is now ".4", the camera that was ".14" is now ".17". The phone was ".8" and is now ".11".
How does this happen? Why? How can I get it to stop?

Re: NightHawk R8000 - IP Addresses Frequently Reassigned
The DHCP server is doing it's job if you require static IP's then set them up or use address reservations

Re: NightHawk R8000 - IP Addresses Frequently Reassigned
With all due respects, the DHCP server's job is to scramble IP addresses?????

Re: NightHawk R8000 - IP Addresses Frequently Reassigned
Log into the R8000 and look at the logs. It's possible that the R8000 is crashing and restarting, in which case it will lose all of the IP address assignments.

Re: NightHawk R8000 - IP Addresses Frequently Reassigned
After reviewing the logs, I find no evidence of the router restarting. The problem remains unsolved. IP addresses are occassionally reassigned - sometimes a device is assigned an IP address that is already in use.

Re: NightHawk R8000 - IP Addresses Frequently Reassigned
Make and model of your modem? When the router restarts the logs are lost so look to see how far back they go. Also look in statistics to see how long each radio and ports are online/connected.

Re: NightHawk R8000 - IP Addresses Frequently Reassigned
The last guy who posted something very similar to your type of problem had a few devices which were not configured correctly. You should check each device to be sure they're set to DHCP if you want the router to assign IP. Make sure none have a static IP address set, make sure no other device has a DHCP server turned on like the other poster did.
For almost 10 years now If I want a device to be issued same IP I use address reservations, this requires no action other than setting and or checking each is set to DHCP and then add to the reservation list.

Re: NightHawk R8000 - IP Addresses Frequently Reassigned
Thanks for the suggestion. Where is the "reservation list"?

Thanks Searay ... That appears to have taken care of the problem.
