How do i pick a WAP that would be suited to my router i have just brought? What would be best?

You didn't give us much to go on.
What size are you looking to cover?
what are you planning on using it for?
What all features are you looking at?
Are you wiring it in as an access point or are you looking at a simple extender?
Whats your budget?
You can go through the netgear access points and filter it based on your requirements.

The model in your footer is not a router, but a modem router. No matter, the question still works here.
It probably doesn't make much difference, but it does mean that you have to be careful in what you buy.
As @plemans says, your question is a bit vague.
Do you really want an access point? That usually means something wired to your router.
If the idea is to make the wifi travel further, then maybe what you want is a wifi extender. These can usually operate in either AP mode or as a wifi repeater.
