My Nighthawk(R) X4S R7800 is disconnecting 5g wifi on all devices (2.4 works without an issue) all the time and its getting very annoying. My firmware version is V1.0.2.80. Its happening for past few months and until today i was jsut ignoring the issue,but i think i payed to much money for this router to experience this kind of *****. Is it a time to switch to Asus?
I have the Nighthawk R7000 and have noticed this issue with my 5G connections only for the past month or so. I manually updated to firmware version V1.0.11.116_10.2.100. Still having issues. Seems ridiculous to have to go backwards in firmware versions to solve router connection problems. Especially having bought this thing to replace the rental from the internet provider. You had ONE job Netgear! Hoping they will figure out their firmware issue as my research points to that being the likely issue.
It worked - kind of. 5G Network is no longer vanishing, only stops working. My laptop and all devices are connected to it but there is no networking, local and internet networks are inacessible. Everything works fine on 2.4. I'm thinking of downloading even older firmware and try as this router worked superb for past few years.
You can try older versions but that specific one was pretty stable. Did you do a factory reset and then clean install after the firmware change (by clean i mean not reinstalling from a backup configuration)?
It might be a hardware failure. How old is the device?
Ok, i think i managed to resolve the problem. I belive issue was caused by incorrect PSU, instead of 12V, 3.5A i was using 12V 1.5A. I bought 12V 5A and it seems to be stable now. Im still loosing internet connection from time to time but WiFi have stopped disconnecting.
