Nighthawk R7000 ac1900 WAN Port Issues
Hello,
I just purchased a new modem and router and i am having difficulty setting up the router/accessing the internet from the router.
Modem: Motorola MB8600
Router: Nighthawk r7000 ac1900
By troubleshooting a bit, I know the modem is providing internet (currently connected to laptop by ethernet) and the WAN port seems to be okay (loopback between WAN and LAN ports and lights stayed on.) When connecting the modem to WAN port, the internet light flickers. I am able to setup the network and connect to wifi with other devices but without any internet connection. I am using Spectrum cable internet.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Nighthawk R7000 ac1900 WAN Port Issues
Normally need to do things in proper order when you have new equipment to get things working.
So power off both the modem and the router.
Now power on JUST the modem and let it come up fully, usually about 5 minutes
Now power up the router. After the router comes up fully and is connected to modem you should now have Internet via the router. If not plugged into modem plug it in.
That should be it.

Thanks! I guess I needed to be more patient - this worked after a couple power cycles. I appreciate you chiming in.

Yes one of those times you cannot rush things.
Glad it is working for you.
