I received an email to update the router but when I click the link it sends me to a page not found page. I went to netgear and tried to update there but they have the same link and it sends me to the same page not found page. I have a windows 7 Home premium computer with a 32 bit operating system. All windows updates are current. I am pretty clueless so any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Enter 192.168.1.1 into the browser as the URL. You should see the Router UID and P/W prompt.
Doesn't work, clear the CACHE of the browser or try a different browser.

Which "the link"?
If you want to get a firmware kit for your router, then you should be
able to visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and
look for Downloads. Download the kit you want. Read the "Release
Notes" file for instructions.
When that fails, come back with clear descriptions of what you
actually did, and what actually happened when you did it. A good
description of reality usually beats any attempt to explain what it all
means.

Re: Nighthawk R7000 can't update, link does not work (page not found error message)
Hi Antinode,
The link that was in the email that I am trying is http://www.routerlogin.net
I tried it with firefox and it states unable to connect. firefox cannot establish a connection to the server at www.routerlogin.net
I tried explorer and it states The page cannot be displayed.
I tried clicking http://www.routerlogin.net. on the support page for the download and received the same messages.
Please advise. Thank you

It should work, but many things are possible. What feeds the R7000,
some kind of modem? (Make/model?)
Is the Windows system connected with an Ethernet cable to the router?
Do the LED indicators at each end indicate a good hardware connection?
(Do they change when the cable is disconnected/reconnected?)
It's Windows, so open a Command Prompt (CMD.EXE) window, and run an
"ipconfig" command. That should show you the IP address of your PC, and
and the IP address of its "gateway", which should be the router. Try
that "gateway" address in your browser instead of "www.routerlogin.net".
The default address for the router is usually "192.168.1.1", but it can
be different.
When that fails, copy+paste the "ipconfig" report here, or, at least,
show those two IP addresses.

Re: Nighthawk R7000 can't update, link does not work (page not found error message)
The modem is Arris Surfboard SB6141
The computer and the router are connected and I checked to see if the cable was secure.
The first blue lights on the router are lit, the next two are not, the number 1 & 2 are orange, 3 & 4 there is nothing in and they are dark, the last two are steady blue. I unpluged the ethernet and plugged it back in and the same lights are on. The blue 5G and the two orange lights flicker but are bright.
I did the command prompt and it says the default gateway is 192.168.1.1 and is listed twice, then it has a link-local IPv6 address that is a bunch of letters and numbers, a subnet mask that is all numeric, a tunnel adapter isatap. which one should I try in the browser?

Ok. A modem, not a modem+router.

White lights?

It sounds as if the router is at "192.168.1.1", which would be its
default address, so I'd expect that to work in your browser.

Was that a "page not found page" produced by your browser, or a
Netgear page which says something like "You are not connected to your
Router's WiFi network"?
