Nighthawk R7000 keeps rebooting while streaming
Hello,
I bought my router in August 2017, and in August 2018 I started experiencing issues with my R7000 router.
It seems that when I am streaming Netflix from my internet tv or streaming YouTube from my laptop, the router restarts. The internet LED turns red and all the other LEDs are off. However, my modem still has internet.
Here are some characteristics of the issue:
- No signs of slower internet/streaming before router reboots
- Modem still has internet
- Seems to occur with streaming although I did catch it resetting when I was using no internet at my house at the moment (no laptop, cellphone, or tv).
- The time lapse for resetting can happen every few minutes of streaming to 20 minutes of streaming
- Firmware version: V1.0.9.42_10.2.44
- The more it reboots the longer it takes to finish rebooting
Some troubleshooting I've tried so far.
- Factory reset router
- Factory reset router and update firmware
- Replace ethernet cord from modem to router
- Use only one device for internet at a time (literally disconnect from wi-fi)
- Try different power outlet
- Turned on QoS
- Enabled Smart Connect
- Unplug ethernet cord and replug in (seemed to lengthen the time between reboots)
- Tried to prioritize my tv as a device but it wouldn't save the settings
- Changed the 2.4GHz and 5GHz channels
Can anyone help me with this?Trying to avoid buying a new router because it's so expensive!
Thank you in advance

Re: Nighthawk R7000 keeps rebooting while streaming
Is the router getting to hot have you tried to move it to a open air space? maybe to test put a fan on it and see if it stops rebooting that will tell you if it is overheating.
