I am working at home and from my work laptop I use an ethernet cable to the router & also have my home ethernet cable which is fine & on my work connection the light is orange & I don't get any window & software updates & have issues with the softphone making calls & using wifi I get the updates but more softphone issues.  I tried a hard & regular reboot too.

Your work laptop has a slower network card in it so that light is an indication of that. It probably has a 100 Mb network card instead of a 1 Gb card.
