Nighthawk R7450 Solid Orange/Amber Power LED Post Firmware Update

Hello All,

I have had a Netgear Nighthawk R7450 for a couple of months now. It has been working great up until now. I was prompted to install a firmware update from the nighthawk phone app (iOS) and I clicked update. After the updated installed and the router restarted the power indicator light turned solid amber/orange. I have looked up everything I could find on this form and have had no luck with solutions. Here is a list of soloutions I have attempted.

1. Unplugging for 30 sec

2. Pressing reset button for 30 seconds, unplugging, pressing reset for 30 seconds as I plug it back in
3. Attempted to use TFTP to fix firmware, however connection always fails. (Including when i set a static IP)

Would be great if someone could help, otherwise this router just became a literal brick. Netgear's warranty doesnt cover it and the support wants me to pay for a plan for them to help me which I am just not going to do.

Thanks!

  • Hi, Thanks for Responding.

I have fixed my router. I had tried all the TFTP guides on the netgear community page and none of them worked. I saw a link to a program and it worked the first try. For anyone having the same issue as me, give this a try.

    Netgear Unbrick Utility

(Directions for the Unbrick Utility are in the README.md)

Goodluck to anyone else with the same problem!

"Attempted" _how_, exactly?  "fails" _how_, exactly, when you did
_what_, exactly?  None of that is a useful problem description.  It does
not say what you did.  It does not say what happened when you did it.
As usual, showing actual actions (commands) with their actual results
(error messages, LED indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague
    descriptions or interpretations.

The TFTP recovery scheme is a multi-step procedure which offers
multiple opportunities for user input, hence user error.  By itself,
saying that you tried it doesn't say much.  See "As usual, [...]",
above.  Especially when using a command-line program, copy+paste is your
    friend.

Are you following some set of instructions or other?

  • Hello I just updated my router (R7450)today with the same firmware. Also I used nighthawk app(Android) and I am having the same problem. I think netgear send out a bad firmware update. Is your router fix?
