Nighthawk R8000P and EX8000 Extender MESH functionality in AP mode

I currently have a MESH network setup with the R8000P and EX8000 extender. I was wondering if I change the R8000P into a AP mode will the extender still work as a MESH. I'm planning on segregating networks and do not require the R8000P as a router, but curious how that would affect the MESH functionality of the extender.

Model: EX8000|AC3000 Nighthawk X6S Tri Band WiFi Mesh Extender, R8000P|Nighthawk X6S AC4000 Tri Band WiFi Router

No the R8000p would not be mesh if you are running it behind another router in AP mode it would become its own network on the wireless.

Yes the mesh will still work if the extender is set in AP mode.

Thank you for your reply, but for clarifaction, I'm not sure if you meant the mesh will still work if the R8000P is set to AP mode, not the EX8000 extender.
