Nighthawk R8000p range

Hi guys, so I've installed this router and I'm getting real good speeds on my WiFi however, range seems to be a lot less than expected. I figured using this router I'd get WiFi in my garden.. I get a couple bars in my patio but that's about it.. as it stands we're probably talking 7 to 10 metres or so to the point in the garden where I get no WiFi

The router is placed in my living room so it has a wall then kitchen, another wall then conservatory to get through before reaching the garden.. I did buy this router on the advertisement of it reaching every room in a 5 bed house and reaching 3500 sqft from the router..

Anyone know how I can extend my range at all??

Problem with homes is their exterior walls tend to be made from materials that block wifi really well. Things like cement board, adobe, brick, concrete, foil lined insulation, metal siding, etc. I've used a r8000 in a 3200 sqft home and it had no problems with coverage in the home (other than the dead spots blocked by hvac/utility room) so it does do its coverage. But again, exterior walls make it hard. You can try sticking it in window with line of sight for the garden. Or get an extender you can put in the window (wifi passes through glass easily). Or you could even get a weatherproof access point/extender.

Plus if you think about it, routers broadcast omnidirectional. Basically in a big circle. with distance that drops off quickly. Think about how quickly a circle gets bigger as it expands (example is 2 medium pizzas are less area than an XL). Same with your home. Your home might not be that big but add even 10ft to distance on a 50x60 home (3000sqft) and its now 60x70 and 4200sq ft.
