- Restarted router
- Attempted to reset - no effect at all after pressing reset button for >30 seconds.
Next, I attempted to upload the software to the router using TFTP as outlined here: https://kb.netgear.com/000059633/How-to-upload-firmware-to-a-NETGEAR-router-using-TFTP-client.
tftp> connect 192.168.1.1 tftp> status Connected to 192.168.1.1. tftp> put R8500-V1.0.2.136_1.0.99.chk putting R8500-V1.0.2.136_1.0.99.chk to 192.168.1.1:R8500-V1.0.2.136_1.0.99.chk [netascii] Sent 33029066 bytes in 152.1 seconds [1737229 bits/sec]

That'd be the Power indicator? If so, then TFTP would be next step.

That's not a very good guide for the command-line TFTP client program

Re: Nighthawk R8500 Amber Flashing Power Light after Firmware Update
Just an FYI
happenned here too with the 1.0.2.144 firmware
Ironically flashed one for someone remotely without issue, ours crashed and burned
The tftp recovery worked out fine though, just a bit of downtime
