This seems to be a reoccuring issue with only one of my windows laptop.
When I reset the router/Access Point, it works good for a few days.
The router is being used as an access point. Resetting the nighthawk temporarily solves this issue.
The devices on this router are:
- I have 6 wired devices running off the router
- 2 of the 6 wired are running off a seperate network switch
- 6 devices (including the suspect laptop) are using 2.4GHz wifi. I Rarely get degredaItion on a second laptop in use.
- 3 streaming devices are using 5GHz1
- 2 Streaming devices are using 5GHz2
Could it be that there are too many devices using this device?
This router is older, could it be time for a new one?
Any recommendations?

If its only happening to 1 device, I'd be a bit suspect of that device. Maybe it has a bad/cheap wireless chip in it.
If it was happening to all of the devices, then I'd be more likely to look at the router/extender but not when its only one.
Easy check? buy a cheap dual band usb wireless card and see if it stays stable with that.
You could even replace the wireless card in the laptop if you were so inclined.
You could also check the driver for the wireless card. Many people rely on windows update to update their drivers and it rarely happens. Try finding out what exact wireless card is in the laptop and go directly to that wireless card's manufacturer website and get the most recent driver for it.

Re: Nighthawk X6 R8000 - WiFi connection seems to degrade on one laptop device
Just did a update driver in windows for the wireless. I did do an update. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Also went to the ASUS support page for the laptop wireless driver in case the windows driver dosnt work.
This is low grade device and its old, so worse case, I'll get a new laptop.
I'll find out in a few days if good I'll give an update.
Thanks for the advise.

Re: Nighthawk X6 R8000 - WiFi connection seems to degrade on one laptop device
Again, I wouldn't use the windows update for the driver. I wouldn't even use the one from asus unless they make the wireless chip (that'd be rare).
many of them have intel, realtek, qualcomm, etc wireless chips in them. find out exactly what wireless chip it is (your windows device manager should show it) and then go to that manufacturers website and get the driver
