Nighthawk X6S hooked up to the Uplink port on my switch

Hi to all,

I'm trying to hookup my Nighthawk X6S to the uplink port(not Std port) on a BV Tech 18 port switch(unmanged). The lights on the Nighthawk show it links up and all go white but when I hook to the Wifi with my phone it shows connected but no internet.  I don't klnow if the uplink port on this switch is Auto mdi-mdi-x  so is it possible I need a crossover cable? the cable is running from the uplink port on switch to the Internet port on the Nighthawk. The red light switches to white showing the completed link but get no actual internet even thou it shows connected?

Thanks

Why?  What is the actual problem which you are trying to solve?

_Which_ "The lights on the Nighthawk" do what, exactly?

Where/what is the Internet connection in this arrangement?

Anyone who can see an actual model number for your (unspecified) "a
BV Tech 18 port switch(unmanged)" might be able to find some
documentation for it, which might reveal that.  Which leaves me out.
How about you?  But didn't you say that some LEDs or other "show it
links up" properly?  I'd expect the Ethernet ports on a R7900P to
accommodate almost anything, but the documentation on that device should
say.

Ok.  But where/what is the Internet connection in this arrangement?
Is there some kind of modem involved?  (How, exactly?)

_Which_ "The red light" (on which device)?

"it shows connected"?  What, exactly, does it show is connected to
what, exactly?  Where/what is the Internet connection in this
arrangement?
