Nighthawk issues with new Arris model Installation?

Arris Surfboard SB8200 Docsis 3.1 Modem

I decided to scrap the Comcast rental in anticipation of getting the gigabit service this week. Called Comcast, gave them the MAC, etc. Hardwired, internet was working fine, however, I can not get the Netgear router going. I did a complete reset, tried the setup (which was very difficult), but nothing seemed to get this thing going.

Anyone had similar issues with pairing these devices or am I missing something? I went back to the Comcast modem until I get this remedied. By the way, I bought this is 2015 so my tech support is done.

Did you power OFF the modem for 1 minute along with the router, then power ON the modem and let it sync. Then factory reset the router and walk the set up wizard? 

I recommend a shortest length CAT 6 ethernet cable between the modem and router. 

 

Try using IE11 or FF browser for the set up wizard.

 

What FW version is loaded on the NG router?

Thanks. Did the power cycling fix already, using about a 24 inch cat 6 cable...firmware I’m not sure about. Just a novice question...it worked until yesterday and immediately after I went back to the Comcast one...wouldn’t that indicate it’s not a firmware issue and probably something to do with some Arris/router talking the same language kind of issue?

Would need to check FW version. 

 

Might check to see if IPv6 is enabled on the router, if it is, disabled it. 

 

What is the mfr and model of the Comast modem?
