Nighthawk r7000 losing external harddrive connection randomly

Hello,

I have netgear nighthawk R7000 (See firmware version below). I have a WD easystore 8tb drive connected to the usb 3.0 port and for some reason I randomly lose connection to it. You can see below it loses connection for about 7 seconds and then is attached back. This never happened before with my other drive connected to usb 2.0, but now since I started using the WD easystore as well, both drives seem to lose connection but it only logs one of them.

Any ideas?

That is seriously old firmware. November 2016. There have been near on a dozen newer versions since then.

An update is no guarantee that it will work – you have done well to get a drive that large to work – but it might be worth trying.

Re: Nighthawk r7000 losing external harddrive connection randomly

I use an USB 3 flash drive always plugged on the USB 3 port and I get the same message sometime .

That's really not a problem even if I don't understand the reason.

Nevertheless, I suggest you to install v1.0.7.6_1.1.99 which is probably the best firmware...

Not, unfortunately, up to date, which is par for the course at Netgear, but as @Case850 that's big for Readyshare, which seems to gag when going much over 4TB.
