Nighthawk r7000P not giving internet

So we just purchased the nighthawk R7000P, and all the lights are white like are supposed to be, though we are unable to connect to the internet. I have tried everything from resetting to modem to restarting the router and nothing has seemed to work. Thanks for the help in advance.

Re: Nighthawk r7000P not giving internet

With new equipment things need to be done in order.

Power off both modem and router.

Now power up JUST the modem and let it stablize, about 5 minutes, can tell by lights.

Now power up the router and wait for it to fully boot up.

The router should now be connected to the modem and Internet.

let is know if you still have issues.

Re: Nighthawk r7000P not giving internet

Thanks for the reply, that worked, the internet is now up. Though, so far the wifi has dropped twice, completely losing connection for about a minute at a time. Is this normal for a first time set up? Or is there something I can do to prevent this? Thanks.

The first thing to do is to update the firmware on your new router. It rarely reaches customers with the last version.
