Nighthawk r7000p linked to another r7000p

Hi I am currently using my Nighthawk r7000p as my main router however I have just purchased another one for my workshop and I want to connect them together and have them work seamlessly any advice would be appreciated...I have a direct link through either patch patch panel or unmanaged switch.

Re: Nighthawk r7000p linked to another r7000p

Hi,

Sorry I have my new router now and I hate to be a newb here but in my head i thought i could just:

cable from free port to internet port on new router.

let it get assigned a new IP address.

use IP to login into router.

change to AC mode.

lovely jubly.

not quite the case. it has been assign 192.168.1.27...this time out when using a browser to connect to and pings 100% packet loss.

Do i need to temporarily remove my old router and set this one up as i did the first? put it in AC mode and then lovely jubly?

If I do this though wont it assume 192.168.1.1 and then I'll have a conflict?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation.  Get the User Manual (at least).  Read.  Look for
"Use the Router as a WiFi Access Point".

I'd connect power and a computer (only) to the new router.  If you've
been fiddling with it, then do a settings reset.  Then configure it as a
WAP, according to the relevant section of its User Manual.  You might
need to lie to it a little to get it past its set-up wizard, so that
it'll let you do what you want with it.

When that has been done, connect the new router to the old/main
router (as instructed).
