Nighthawk x10 ad7000 vs ad7200

Just bought a nighthawk x10 ad7000 from Costco.  Is it the same as the x10 ad7200?   Are the updates the same?  Thanks.

AD7000 and AD7200 are not Netgear model numbers. Confusingly, they are wifi speed indicators used on a handful of different Netgear models.

Whichever model you have bought, possibly the R8900, the firmware from other models will not be compatible with your hardware.

Thank you.  Yes it does have an R8900.  I have not opened the box yet.  Would you suggest bringing it back and getting an R9000?   Thank you again.

With all the firmware issues currently effecting the R9000, I would recommend sending it back and getting another router entirely, one that actually works properly.

If you are worried about problems with the R9000, stick with the R8900. Unless someone can pour cold water on that too.

I'm not familiar with the subtle differences between these creatures. A lowly R7800 does what I want.
