Have a nighthawk router R6400v2 AC1750. V 126.96.36.199
Moved and had a new installed Fronter Modem..fiber optic. Their speeds are between 350 to 500 MB.
Problem is when using ethernet cable connect to my router I get max speeds of 75 to 90 MB. About half of what I get when connected direct, via ethernet cable, to Frontier Modem. I have tried several suggestions posted with no help.
Turn of QoS. Turn off Traffic Meter. So far nothing has helped.
Why or what is making my router have half the speed of the modem? Specs indicated that I should be getting much higher speeds.
Have used different speed testing apps and all come up the same results.
As Im not a computer savvy I would need simple and precise steps to make changes to get my router speed up. There must be something very simple which is causing my nighthawk router to be so slow.
Any help would be greatly appriecated.

What is it? Maker? Model number? Is it a simple optical network
terminator, or a modem+router, or what?

You measured that speed? How?

What, exactly, do you "connect to my router"? "90" is "About half

A good start might be to find out why it's low.
A defective Ethernet cable could limit speed to 100Mb/s. For a quick
cable test, connect each end to a LAN Ethernet port on the router, and
observe the relevant port-status LED indicators. For a good cable, both
port-status LEDs should indicate a maximum-speed connection. (And they
should agree.) On an R6400v2, that would mean white port-status LEDs.
