No NightHawk Firmware Update Option
Hi everyone. I am attempting to update the firmware for my NightHawk D7000v2 (currently v1.03.01) but there is no firmware update option either on the NightHawk Genie or on my Netgear mobile app. I have followed the Netgear instructions for both automatic and manual updating my particualr Nighthawk with no luck.
- For the Genie: I open the Genie, select ADVANCED > Administration > but there is no Router Update option.
- For the mobile app: I open up the Router Settings, but there is no Check for Updates option at the bottom of the page.
- When I download the firmware for the Netgear website on my PC to manually update, the .zip file contains only the Release Notes along with "recovered file fragments" in a .chk file, but no application or executable files.
Does anyone have a solution for me? I really want to update the firmware for security reasons. Thanks!

Firmware Update. (And the page title is "Firmware Upgrade".)"Genie" is ambiguous. Do you mean the Genie app or the management
web site (using a web browser)? What, exactly, does "open the Genie"
mean to you?> o For the mobile app: [...]
_Which_ "the mobile app"? I'd stick with a web browser, and a
computer with a wired connection to the D7000v2.> o When I download the firmware for the Netgear website on my PC to

That ".chk" file (actual name?) is the firmware image file. It's not
an "application or executable file", and you're not supposed to run it.
The D7000v2 User Manual is lousy with errors, including (page 156):b. Navigate to the firmware file.
The file ends in .img. An example of a firmware file name is
D7000-V1.0.0.14_1.01.img.That would be valid for a D7000[v1]. Like "the red Internet port on the
modem router" (page 26), it's the result of too much copy+paste from the
D7000[v1] manual (and not enough thought).- Fluid1Aspirant
Thanks for replying, I appreciate the help.
1) What _is_ there? On a D7000[v1], it's ADVANCED > Administration >
Firmware Update. (And the page title is "Firmware Upgrade".)> The following are in the drop down menu under ADMINISTRATION:
No Router Update is shown. It isn't hidden in any of the other pages either, I checked.
2) _Which_ "the mobile app"? I'd stick with a web browser, and a
computer with a wired connection to the D7000v2.> The "Netgear Nighthawk" mobile app downloaded as per the Netgear on-line instructions to update the router. After the hardwired PC didn't work I tried the mobile app as directed. There is no Router Update button there either.
3) That ".chk" file (actual name?) is the firmware image file. It's not
an "application or executable file", and you're not supposed to run it.> The file name is D7000v2-V1.0.0.66_1.02.chk I know it is not an executable file, but the Nighthawk apparently doesn't recognize it, and in a different thread one answer stated that an additional executable file is required. Apparently not. I did not "run" the .chk file of course. The Release Notes in the downloaded zip file state to download the user manual, which - as you stated - has errors. Following those instructions - yet again - leads me to the same problem - no Router Update button/link, see above.

Well the screen shot I posted in the reply above didn't load. The items on the Netgear Genie ADVANCED tab under ADMINISTRATION are:
>ADMINISTRATION
Gateway Status
Router Mode
Logs
Attached Devices
Backup Settings
Set Password
Event Log
Diagnostics
Wireless Channel
Wireless AP
>ADVANCED SETUP
