What is your "this router"? Has it a model number?

That's not a router.

Not a useful problem description. It does not say what you did. It
does not say what happened when you did it. As usual, showing actual
actions (commands) with their actual results (error messages, LED
indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague descriptions or
interpretations.

_Which_ "a button"?
Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your (actual) model number,
and look for Documentation. Get the User Manual. Read. Look for the
LED descriptions and "Troubleshoot". Pay special attention to "WiFi
On/Off button with LED". (Did you press it?)

Re: Not connecting
I'm glad to see that you found the "Solution" to your problem(s).
> and I thought this is a place to help you are rude
Thanks for your thoughtful (and punctuation-free) evaluation. And
how would you describe someone who apparently can't be bothered to read
the User Manual for a device before asking for help with it from
volunteers, and then can't even identify the device in question, let
alone provide any useful information in a problem description? (Hint:
Rude? Inconsiderate? Arrogant? Stupid?) How much help do you expect,
given a problem description like, "my unspecified router doesn't work"?
> [...] nothing is working
See "Not a useful problem description [...]", above. Are you trying
to use some (unspecified) computer/device with a wired/Ethernet
connection or a wireless connection? Should anyone else already know
that?
> [...] Get the User Manual. Read. [...]
Did you? I assume not, or else "one next to it" would have read
"Internet".
> [...] Pay special attention to "WiFi On/Off button with LED". (Did
> you press it?)
Well? If the router LED indicators indicate Power and a good
Internet connection, and your (I'll guess) wireless devices (I'll guess
again) don't show your (unspecified) router's SSID ("wireless network
name") in their available-network lists, then perhaps the dark "WiFi
On/Off button with LED" might suggest a possible solution to your
problem. (Or, at least, your problem with your router.)
