Nighthawk works great on my computer which is connected to it but my husband whose computer is upstairs gets kicked off the network frequently when he is on our wireless network. Any suggestions?

It seems to be working better since firmware update with channel changes. I will keep your suggestion in mind if it hasn't gone away. Thanks to all for their help.

Is there any pattern to this?
Have you tried tweaking the wifi channels?
If you live in a congested area – with lots of neighbours – there could be interference between channels.
Then there is the distance between him upstairs and the modem. Wifi doesn't stretch to infinity.
If he has a choice, tell him to try the 2.4GHz channel. That is slower than 5GHz but it has longer reach.

Re: One Computer gets kicked off network
I updated the firmware and tweaked the wifi channels which seems to help. If needed he will try the 2.4 GHz channel.
Thank you for your reply.

I bet he won't notice the difference.
But you might like to consider other options that would reduce the issue.
What is he using upstairs? Laptop? Tablet?
If it has a LAN socket then Powerline would give a wired connection and could beat the heck out of wifi at any speed.

He is using a desktop computer.
I need more info about this since I am not sure what you are talking about: If it has a LAN socket then Powerline would give a wired connection and could beat the heck out of wifi at any speed.

Re: One Computer gets kicked off network
Powerline uses your home's electrical circuit as a wired LAN network.
- Put one powerline plug into a mains socket near to the router.
- Plug powerline LAN into router LAN.
- Put second powerline plug into mains socket near his PC.
- Connect his PC's LAN socket to the powerline plug's LAN
- Forget about wifi hassles
You then have a router-to-PC connection that goes nowhere near wifi.
Product FAQ: Powerline Adapters | Answer | NETGEAR Support
The current generation of powerline devices has 1000 Mbps LAN support. As your Internet connection gets ever faster, it can beat wifi hands down.
I use powerline to connect smart media devices, BluRay players and Internet radios. Much better than using wifi.

Around $40 would get you a pair of "1000" plugs. And if you want better wifi upstairs, get a pair that has a built-in wifi extender.
