OpenVPN Setup Android. WTF?

http://www.routerlogin.net/vpn_instruction_android.htm https://kb.netgear.com/29783/How-do-I-use-VPN-service-on-my-Nighthawk-router-with-my-Android-device these are 2 conflicting instructions on how to set up OpenVPN for Android. Following the KB article results in an error message error parsing too long as documented here. https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-WiFi-Routers/R7000-setup-VPN-on-Android-openvpn/m-p/13237... WTF Can Netgear fix this BS and post proper instructions so people don’t have to spend 2 hours trying to install this?

Re: OpenVPN Setup Android. WTF?

Due to NG's slow response, I had to Google and ended up following this guy's paste methods. Note the differerences versuse the NG KB: https://www.brainfart.sg/index.php/2012/05/embedding-certificate-into-openvpn-config/ It worked! However, I got the same problem as this person below. DNS cannot be found. Why? How to fix? Am running the latest firmware as of 7/15/2017.

https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-WiFi-Routers/R7000-VPN-DNS-address-can-t-be-found/m-p/120...

So WTF, whats the answer. In the above thread the person was not quite sure how he resolved it and NG tech support was nowhere to be found. Hiding because they didn't have an answer and only responding did you follow step 6. Read my lips, it was done successfully. So WTF to do now? Can't you post proper instructions and provide COMPETENT support on this forum? Please?

Re: OpenVPN Setup Android. WTF?

The issue is documented here: https://community.netgear.com/t5/DSL-Modems-Routers/D7000-OpenVPN-Server-configuration-issue/td-p/11... I spent hours on this already and as a customer should not have to. Moderator you need to stop dodging the tough problems. Linking KB articles is not demonstrating any competence on your product. If we dont get a solution or response here within 3 business days I plan to contact a class action lawyer and Better Business Bureau and rip NG's heart out.

Re: OpenVPN Setup Android. WTF?

For the benefit of fellow users (since NG has not said a word in days about this due to incompetence or disinterest IMO), I was able to resolve access to the Internet via OpenVPN. The only change I made was to select  "All sites on the Internet and Home Network." Previously, I had the default of "Auto" checked. OpenVPN works for me using Windows 7 64bit and Android Lollipop.

Somethings that alarm me and questions:

1) In attempting to get this to work, I tried OpenVPN by Arne Schwab. It is supposed to be a more sophisticated version of OpenVPN. It could not connect but the reason cited was someting about security which I think relates to some issues ie MD5 others users have discussed on other threads.

2) The NG instructions for Android ask users to copy all 4 files into a folder and place them in the smartphone storage area. It seems only 1 file is needed. Why does one need all 4 when the data from the other 3 has already been copied in? Also the instructions on how to complie the file are flat out lame and stupid. The article I linked in an earlier thread points out how to do this properly.

3) For my time, NG should send me a free **bleep**ing router.

Re: OpenVPN Setup Android. WTF?

As I requested, just have them read the posts and respond here. I'm not about to rehash all this info for someone over the phone when I already spend tons of time on it. Stop making the customer do NG's job. Post the solution here please. Thank you!
