Port forwarding issue

Hi guys,

I have a Nighthawk D7000. I am having a few issues port forwarding. I can port forward when I choose TCP, but not UDP. Example wanting to open port 5005, port will open if i choose TCP but if I choose UDP port stays closed (verified through open port check tool.) This happens with all numbers e.g 6000, 6005 etc..

I need to open 5005 UDP not TCP, which I am having no success with. Does anyone know what may be causing this? Possible setting?

Cheers

I have the same basic info questions as before:

How much confidence have you in that "open port check tool"?  Do you
know if it tests UDP?  After a little thought, it's not clear to me that
it's possible to test UDP access if the server program does not respond
to an arbitrary test packet which might be sent to it.  The actual
client program might make a much more trustworthy test.  (With TCP,
there's more handshaking, and a connection can be detected without any
transfer of user data.  I don't think that reception of a UDP packet can
be detected by the sender, unless the recipient replies.)

Plus the usual: "Why are you doing this"?

Depending on what you're actually trying to do, I'd tend to trust a
comm test between an actual client and server over any "open port check
tool".  First, within the LAN, using the LAN IP address of the server,
to ensure that the client and server can communicate when no port
forwarding is involved.  Then, also within the LAN, using the
WAN/Internet IP address of the router (and the external port number)
instead of the LAN IP address of the server, to test the port forwarding
(and NAT loopback) on the router.

_Except_ on a D7000v2, where multiple users have reported that NAT
loopback does not work:
