What was the actual port-forwarding rule there?

It won't work is the server is not on the LAN subnet of the main
router.

An R8000 would do that if it's configured as a router, and its
WAN/Internet port is connected to another router which is using
"192.168.1.*" for its LAN.

Too much work.  I'd guess that Address Reservation would be under
"DHCP" or "LAN hosts".  I'd look for port forwarding under "Port
forwarding".

> I don't wanna mess up my parents WIFI or stuff tho

Adding an address reservation or a port-forwarding rule should be
pretty safe.  But, safe or not, the main router needs to do the port
forwarding.

> Your friends use your (one, only) public IP address ("88.90.##.##")

So, the main router must do the port forwarding.

And the server must be on the main-router LAN subnet.  So, directly
connected to the main router, or else connected to the R8000 when the
R8000 is configured as a WAP.

Re: Port forwarding on r8000 not working

I copied this from the lik you gave me.

> Model: r8000

   Is that accurate?  Firmware version?

>V1.0.4.62_10.1.74

   1. Wrong external IP address (different from the port-forwarding
router's WAN/Internet IP address).  (An intermediate NAT router, for
example, could cause this.  Or an ISP using carrier-grade NAT to
conserve IPv4 addresses.)

Does the IP address of the WAN/Internet interface of your router
match what you're using as your public IP address from the outside
world?  ADVANCED > ADVANCED Home : Internet Port : Internet IP Address

>IP Address 10.0.#.##
My public IP: 88.90.##.##
Connection DHCP
IP Subnet Mask 255.255.###.#
Domain Name Server 148.122.##.###
148.122.###.###

   2. Bad port-forwarding rule (wrong port(s), wrong target address --
including a wandering target).

I can't see your actual port-forwarding rules.  Copy+paste is your
friend.

>I just copied this:

How did you ensure that your (unspecified) "a server for a game"
system always has the right IP address?  Static configuration?  Reserved
dynamic address?

   3. Server not listening on the port-forwarding target system.

Can you access the server from a system on your LAN using the
server's LAN IP address?  If you can't access the server locally, then
there may be little chance of doing it from the outside world.

>I CAN acces the server from the same network

If that works, then, still from a system on your LAN, try using the
router's WAN/Internet IP address.  That should verify the
port-forwarding rule(s) (and the "NAT loopback" feature of the router).

>How do i find that?

   4. External influences: ISP blocking, other firewalls, ...

>I have tried disabling my firewall from windows settings, but that seems to not be working, i have also whitelisted port 25565

   Seldom the problem.

> [...] and it doesn't work, because other people can't connect

"doesn't work" or "can't" is not a useful problem description.  It
does not say what you did.  It does not say what happened when you did
it.  As usual, showing actual actions (commands) with their actual
results (error messages, LED indicators, ...) can be more helpful than
vague descriptions or interpretations.

I answered some of the questions as good as i could, hope it helps

Re: Port forwarding on r8000 not working

I have also thought about factory reset

But the network belongs to my parents

And, I am afraid to mess something up, like for example: Deleting the guest network, Deleting the 5ghz Guest network, or Deleting the 5Ghz Network

Does the factory reset delete any of these? Or is it safe?

That's looks like a problem.  Is the R8000 (WAN/Internet port)
connected to some other NAT router? _That_ would be the router where
you'd need to do the port forwarding.  (That's the _first_ "usual
problem for a reason.)

To what, exactly, is the R8000 connected?

If another router is connected to your ISP (and _its_ WAN/Internet
IP address is that "88.90.##.##"), then you might want to configure the
R8000 as a wireless access point, not as a full-function router.

(That public IP address ("88.90.##.##") is the only thing which you
should be hiding.  Any "10.x.y.z" or "192.168.y.z" address, or your
subnet mask ("255.255.255.0", presumably) are of no use to anyone.)

> How did you ensure that your (unspecified) "a server for a game"

That's still a question, but, again, it would involve the main
router (with the public IP address), not the R8000.

> Does the factory reset delete any of these? Or is it safe?

I doubt that a settings reset would help.  It _would_ reset all the
wireless-network SSIDs, and all other settings.

If your ISP connection goes to that router, so that _its_ WAN IP
address is "88.90.##.##", then _that_ is where you need to do the port
forwarding.  Your friends in the outside world will be talking to that
router.

Why do you have the R8000?  Are you using the R8000 to improve your
wireless network coverage?  If so, then it might be a good idea to
configure the R8000 as a wireless access point, not as a full-function
router.  That would put _all_ your client devices, including your
Minecraft server system, on the "192.168.1.*" subnet, and that should
let port forwarding on your "a thingy" work properly.

> Minecraft server tcp/udp: 25565, 192.168.1.##

Don't hide any of the "192.168.1.z" addresses.  What's the (LAN) IP
address of your Minecraft server system?

> >>I don't know how to find

You need to know.  A port-forwarding rule includes the address of the
server.  If your Minecraft server uses DHCP to get its IP address from
the (DHCP server in the) router, then it could get a different address
every time it (or the router) restarts.  But the server's address must
be the address in the port-forwarding rule.

On a Netgear router, you can reserve an address for the server at:
ADVANCED > Setup > LAN Setup : Address Reservation.  I assume that it's
also possible to do that on your "a thingy" router, but I know very
little about it.  (Note that this is the _second_ "usual problem".)

> [...] i just wanted to play Minecraft with my friends from my own
> computer

Sounds simple, doesn't it?  Sadly, everything's complicated.

Your friends use your (one, only) public IP address ("88.90.##.##")
to talk to your main router -- the router which is connected to your
ISP.  When a friend tries to talk to port 25565 on your router, what
should the router do?  To which of the computers/devices on your LAN
should it send that message?

A port-forwarding rule tells the router what to do.  That is, to
which (LAN) address it should send that message.  In this case, that
would be your Minecraft server.  But, of course, your Minecraft server
must _always_ be at the address in that rule, so you need to make sure
that your Minecraft server always gets the same address.  So, "Address
Reservation" (or whatever your main router calls it).

It might be a good idea to connect your Minecraft server directly to
your main router, and see if you can get things to work properly without
involving the R8000.  If you can get that simpler system to work, then
adding the R8000 might be relatively easy.

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation.  Get the User Manual.  Read.  Look for "Use the
Router as a Wireless Access Point".  With the R8000 configured as a WAP,
you should be able to add it between your main router and your Minecraft
server without adding any new problems.

   Isn't this educational?

I fixed the probolem, i took contact with the company Telenor, and they said i were using the wrong IP address for the port forwarding

It works fine now

Anyways, thank you so much fo taking the time to help me.

I really appreciate it!
