Port forwarding

Hi, I've been having problems with port forwarding for about 2 months now. The strange thing is that I've been port forwarding for years on this router and suddenly it just stopped. I've read through other support threads and none of the solutions worked for me.

Thanks in advance

Re: Port forwarding

FTP servers, yes. Although I found the solution: Windows Firewall was blocking the ports I was using.

Re: Port forwarding

Check if your ISP has migrated your connection to carrier grade NAT - compare the Google "what is my IP address" with the IP address assigned to the router Internet/WAN port as visible in the router Web UI, e.g. the Advanced tab.

Re: Port forwarding

The two IP addresses are the same. Whats should I try next?

   Is that accurate?  Firmware version?

> [...] I've been having problems with port forwarding [...]

"problems" is not a useful problem description.  It does not say what
you did.  It does not say what happened when you did it.  As usual,
showing actual actions with their actual results (error messages, LED
indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague descriptions or
interpretations.

Doing _what_ "with port forwarding"?  Actual port-forwarding rule(s)?
Copy+paste is your friend.

Thanks for the helpful links.  Think for a moment about how little
useful information that non-description conveys to the non-psychics in
your audience.

> [...] The strange thing is [...]

Even stranger is that you seem to believe that you've provided any
useful unformation at all concerning your problem.

Re: Port forwarding

I've been hosting a 3 FTP servers on ports 61, 62, 63 on one computer connected to the router via a cat6 ethernet cable. Firmware version is V1.0.9.64_10.2.64 running on a Netgear Nighthawk R7000. Up till about 2 months ago, these servers were working fine, and after an extensive power outage in my area, a connection from outside my network would not work. They still run and can be accessed on the network from ex. 192.168.1.5, but not publicly.

Other threads that work not successful:

https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-WiFi-Routers/R7000-Port-Forwarding-Not-Working/m-p/145563...

<other forums that are not netgear related>

I suspect it might be a problem with my computer, but any insiteyou may have will help.

Thanks

Re: Port forwarding

For one FTP server you need more than one port - especially if the FTP control connection does not operate on the default 21/TCP. On other ports, the FTP ALG won't work. And all three FTP servers must be configured for a dedicated FTP passive port range, which must be forwarded indvidually, too.

Re: Port forwarding

Would I need to set a download/upload ports? But previously, all three servers were operational, on "3 FTP servers on ports 61, 62, 63" and were able to send/receive data. Could it be an OS issue on the computer's side? I haven't manually updated the servers but OS updates have rolled out.

Re: Port forwarding

You talk of FTP servers, not SFTP (which is SSH, not FTP), ... do you?

Re: Port forwarding

Wonderful ... still curios why this can work on the non-standard ports. Or the FTP ALG does detect the three ports...
