Printer Not Detected When Plugged Into USB Port

When I plug my printer into the USB port of my router, the USB light on the router does not go on.  And in the router admin page in the ReadyShare section it says, "Status: No USB Drive".

If I plug in a USB flash drive, it is recognized.

Router: R6700v3 Nighthawk AC1750 Smart WiFi Router

Printer: HP Color LaserJet CP1215

Netgear Firmware: V1.0.4.84_10.0.58

I would like to connect the printer to the router so that computers connect can print to it using ReadyShare (as advertised).

Thanks!

Facing the same issue. I am using a windows 10 laptop and an HP 1112 printer. The printer works just fine when connected directly to the computer. When connected to the router the usb light does not flash green. Moreover a USB Flash drive gets detected. Completely lost with this.

Different printer.  Different router model, firmware.  What, exactly,
is "the same"?  Not every "printer doesn't work" complaint has the same
cause.

Start your own thread for your own, different problem.

More general advice for the lost:

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RTFM

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation.  Get the User Manual.  Read.  Look for "printer".
Did you do any of that stuff?

   Not a good sign.

Well, he did remind me that nobody every took a look at my original issue which is still unsolved.  I've resorted to using one computer as a printer server that is directly connected to the printer, but that is not the ideal solution.

Re: Printer Not Detected When Plugged Into USB Port

Thanks for posting a great question. Same issue for me, and the person that attempted a reply just made this issue confusing.

So I'll make it simple.

Printer plugged in to the router via USB.

USB light on the router is off.

No printer is found.

Is that easier?
