Today I tried to login www.routerlogin.net using 'admin' A/C. After inputting the correct password, I failed to login. After reboot the router, I could login using the same password. Then I updated my admin password. I tried to use my new password to login. Still failed. After reboot the router, I could login using the new password. But when it was timeout, it required logon again. I used the new password but failed again. After reboot, it worked. But only worked the first time. After timeout and requireing login, failed again.
My router's firmware is V1.0.1.52_1.0.36. After several time's retry, it showed 'Router Password Recovery' webpage. After inputting the serial number and answering the security questions, I could see the password shown on screen, which is the same as the one I inputted.
Is it the firmware issue?

Tonight, I used another notebook to test the admin password. It worked.
Then I turned back to the original notebook which has admin login issue. I tried all browsers. All have the same issue, i.e. correct password but failed to login. It proved it is not browser issue.
I have installed Avira antivirus software. I don't know whether the software concerns. I restored back the old system image I made on Apr 2020. After restoring the system to Apr image, the issue could be solved. That image does not have installed Avira, but Norton Antivirus.
Restoring old system can solve this issue. Was my system hacked?
At last I changed the admin password to a new one. The new password works too.

Re: R6400 - Failed to Login 'admin' webpage using Correct Password
Are you using any password managers? They're great at overwriting passwords.
Or trying a different pc/browser? just to make sure it isn't a browser/pc issue.

Re: R6400 - Failed to Login 'admin' webpage using Correct Password
I have password manager installed. I stored all my passwords there, including all my previous netgear admin passwords. It always works.
I used Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Firefox. All not works. Only the first time login after router reboot works. Subsequent login failed.

I tried inputting the password manually, not copy and paste. Still failed.

Re: R6400 - Failed to Login 'admin' webpage using Correct Password
I copied the new router password from password manager and pasted to notepad.
Then I inputted manually the same password on the next line of the notepad.
They are the same!
I used this password to login admin webpage in mobile.

Re: R6400 - Failed to Login 'admin' webpage using Correct Password
I was redirected to the 'Router Password Recovery' webpage. After password recovery, I copied and pasted the password shown on screen (the same as the one I inputted). But still failed.

Re: R6400 - Failed to Login 'admin' webpage using Correct Password
I am sorry I gave you wrong information. I didn't install any password manager in any of my installed browser. I just installed password manager which is a program I can record my passwords. The manager would not interfere the passwords I typed on browser.
