R6400V2 REMOTE MANAGEMENT STOPPED WORKING
I have the above router and remote management is enabled both through the router itself at port 8443 and the Nighthawk App. It will work for a week or so, and then stops working. I tried rebooting the router daily remotely, and it worked maybe 3 weeks, but the stops being able to reconnect. Any solutons?
I should mention that in my home, I had an R7000 and the same occurred. I could not fix it so I had to switch to an Eero, which works flawlessly - need thta funciionality.
This seems to be a common problem. If there is no fix, I will spend the money and buy another brand for this property too and cross Netgear off my list of routers for future purchases.

Re: R6400V2 REMOTE MANAGEMENT STOPPED WORKING
Power cycle the ISP modem and Router OFF for 1 minute then back ON?
Factory reset the router and setup from scratch.
Be aware that NG is moving away from supporting remote management and has been removing this freature from recent FW updates on most NG router products. So only way to do some limited management is by using the Nighthawk app with Anywhere Access enabled.
Netgear has set up a community forum specifically for Smart WiFi Router products:

Re: R6400V2 REMOTE MANAGEMENT STOPPED WORKING
I posted to the Nighthawk Routers section??
I had done a factory reset and restart. I lose access regularly. The real problem isn't that I can't access the router, every week I lose outside access to the home network so I cannot use my Nest thermostat. If I go there and reset the modem, it starts working again for a week, so I started remotely rebooting daily, and that prolonged the time to loss of the network, but didn't fix it. The same thing happened to the R7000 I had as I noted.
That router is 60 miles away from my primary house, and I want to adjust the thermostst before I go!!!

Re: R6400V2 REMOTE MANAGEMENT STOPPED WORKING
The 6400 series router is a Smart WiFi Router, not NightHawk.
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

Re: R6400V2 REMOTE MANAGEMENT STOPPED WORKING
Have the ISP check the signal and line quality UP to the modem. Be sure the ISP provisions the modem correctly.
Be sure there are no coax cable line splitters in the between the modem and ISP service box.
Be sure your using good quality RG6 coax cable up to the modem.
Be sure to power OFF the modem for 1 minute then back ON.

Those these apply to NG modems, you might have the ISP review your modem to ensure it's working to the modem and ISP specs:

Re: R6400V2 REMOTE MANAGEMENT STOPPED WORKING
I did that last summer, and it did not fix the issue. The cable modem is right where the cable enters the house, and I do not have TV so it is the first connection.
Since the same think occurred in two locations in different states with Nethgear modems, I am skeptical it is a signal problem????

Re: R6400V2 REMOTE MANAGEMENT STOPPED WORKING
You might revert back to older FW and see. Were seeing lots of problems with recent FW versions across different router lines.
I'd go back to maybe first verion and see if it stablized or if you know what had worked before, go back to that version.
As a suggestion to get around using Remote Management on the router, if you have PC at the remote location, install TeamViewer on this PC. Then you can connect to this PC from your location using a PC and TeamViewer and log in to the router that way. As long as the ISP serivce, modem and router and PC is working you can manage the router that way.

Re: R6400V2 REMOTE MANAGEMENT STOPPED WORKING
Unfortunately I don't keep a computer there.
When I go I will try reverting to earlier firmware. Probably will be several weeks.
Thanks for the help though!!!

Re: R6400V2 REMOTE MANAGEMENT STOPPED WORKING
They disabled the feature and not tell anyone. It messed me up bad. If they don't add the feature back I will have to go and replace all netgear routers just because of this. They expect me to manage them from my mobile phone. That is crazy and most options are missing.

Are you using Anywhere Access? (It was calked Remote Access.)
Have you caught up with the changes to Netgear's cloud services?

Re: R6400V2 REMOTE MANAGEMENT STOPPED WORKING
I have activated access from the nighthawk app (ios) as well as remote management (https://xxx.xxx.xxx:8443). No luck either way.
What cloud changes?

Re: R6400V2 REMOTE MANAGEMENT STOPPED WORKING
Enablign anywhere access only allows you to connect to the router remotely with the NIghthawk app. There is no remote browser access anymore. Mobile app is useless if you want to do anything advanced with the router.
