R6400v2 firmware update failed, device bricked after failure
There are several threads in this community about this issue where when attempting to update the firmware on the router (in my instance I went through the router's admin tool and clicked on the link/button that said there was an update and after the update (which was supposed to take 2 min) still hadn't completed after 10 minutes there was obviously an issue.
I've read through and have tried several of the suggestions included in this community but some are ones that I either don't have enough knoweldge to do or the equipement to do so. I am unable to access the router directly via www.routerlogin.net anymore as the page just says the page cannot be displayed. When I hardwire to the router and change the IP to a static IP I do see on the LAN connection "NETGEAR45" so I know I'm connected to the router. There was an article about using nmrpflash - Netgear Unbrick Utility however I'm trying to do this via a work laptop and it won't let me run this utility. The Nighthawk app does not 'see' this router anymore when the router is on so I can't try to update it that way either. The closest I get is when following these instructions (
https://kb.netgear.com/19841/Reinstall-the-firmware-on-a-router-without-the-setup-CD-recovery-tool) and it says it is erasing the firmwear, then it changes to say it is installing the firmware but it gets about half way through then fails and it starts the process again. This happens over and over until all the retry attempts are exhausted. Any ideas?
