R6400v2 - forgot password; service contract expired but should not have to pay $140 to solve this.

R6400v2 Nighthawk

I was trying to install an Amazon firestick and the password I had on record for the 5G connection for the NetGear router does not work.  My service contract is expired but do not feel I should have to pay $140 for a service contract to get at the PW or get a new one.  Any suggestions?

have you logged into the router to check your ssid/password?

Or even change it?

https://kb.netgear.com/23439/How-do-I-change-my-NETGEAR-router-s-WiFi-password-or-network-name-SSID

avoid special characters and spaces. some devices have issues with them (they shouldn't)

   Only the usual:

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RTFM

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation.  Get the User Manual (at least).  Read.  Look for
"Types of Logins" and "Reset".  And "Specify Basic WiFi Settings".
Further reading might not hurt, either.

Who asked for that?

If you called a telephone number that you found with a web search IT WASN'T NETGEAR. There are too many scam sites out there that try to look like Netgear but in reality are dodgy operations that can damage your network and your bank balance.

That place costs you nothing.
