R6700 setup with switch and cable modem

Question on running two R6700 off the same cable modem. Can I run a LAN cable from the Cox modem to a 1GB switch and then run two R6700s off LAN cables at opposite ends of the house?

Can it be an unmanaged switch or must it be a managed switch?

Seems I remember trying this years ago and could not get it to work.

Is your Cox modem a router/modem that can provide DHCP service?  That would make things much easier.

If it is a router/modem then you can put both the R6700's in AP mode and use the COX device as a router.

Only has one LAN output.

One LAN port should not be a problem if you are connecting it to a switch but it is unlikely that the modem is a router if it only has one LAN port.

Can you call your ISP and see if they can give you a modem that is also a router?
